Topics I've Started

  1. The Phantom Dinosaur

    Posted 25 Jul 2006

I know this is old news, and I know it's been brought up elsewhere, but my God, why couldn't have Gurney sued Lucas for stealing intellectual property!!! You KNOW Lucas would've done it in a heartbeat if someone was "borrowing" ideas from him. You KNOW he would!!!! What a %$#$^ing thief!!! My respect was at an all time low for the man, this is lower than low!!! This proves that the man hasn't had an original idea since after ESB. He alienated anyone who worked with him on the first two films, and divorced his wife who was the best filter for all of his ideas. Sometimes I wish 20th Century Fox had had more control over the rights of the films and taken over... things might have been a little bit better. We'll never know, though, will we.

I mean, not only the parade, but the waterfall city---right down to a plot in Gurney's story where their SUB is attacked by a GIGANTIC FISH!!!!! !

I know George borrowed from other films and comics, etc. to make the early Star Wars, but at least they had been around awhile. Him ripping off of something so recent speaks of him being desperate for ideas to make TPM. I can just see him frantically looking around the house and goes into his kid's room... "Ideas, need ideas! Where can I get ideas... waaaait... What's this? Dinotopia, hmmmm..."

Thank goodness he didn't pick up "Dora the Explorer."

Then Lucas doesn't even ask Gurney for permission. He tells him when the film is finished---and RIGHT BEFORE HE PREMIERES IT!!!! GOD DAMN YOU LUCAS!!!

If it was my intellectual property, and I would have had your ass in a sling long ago!!! Dumbass! Jerk!

You're lucky Gurney was an easy going pacifist goofball.
  2. "The Other Star Wars"

    Posted 7 Mar 2006

In my signature, I have a link for "The Other Star Wars." I've taken the original drafts of Lucas' scripts and reworking them into a comic format. They're pretty close to the originals and just telling a whole new story.

Just wanted to get a little feedback on it because I'm not sure if I want to continue with them or not. So, if you have time, take a look and let me know what you think. If not, that's fine.
  3. Question about Utapau

    Posted 6 Mar 2006

I finally made myself finish ROTS, and I'm just curious, what the heck is that bone-like structure on Utapau? That and the other structures on the landing pads all seem really out of place, disconnected. It's designed mess. Why is it like that?

I'm sure there's some explanation in the novelization--but you know what---I'm not THAT interested to get the book and read about it. Just thought someone here may have the answer.
  4. "We don't want to lose you..."

    Posted 17 Dec 2005

As mentioned in my other post, I just finished watching my Laserdisc ESB DVD (I'm not rubbing it in--seriously), and I had to laugh when Obi-Wan tells Luke, [paraphrasing] "We don't want to lose you to the Emperor as I once lost Vader."

What? They don't want Luke to fall in love with somebody and then turn because he think he might save her with some dark side ability? What? Kill a bunch of sandpeople because they hurt somebody he loved?

With the PT in context with that line, it just doesn't work. Their fears for losing Luke are not the same as the ones for Anakin.

Just doesn't work for me. I'll go back to ignoring the PT's and will be well.
  5. Simon Cowell has joined the dark side...

    Posted 27 Apr 2005

My wife watches AI, but I don't give her crap about it (otherwise, I get nothing...), but as I work on the computer, I kind of pick up on the show through osmosis.

Anyway, I was shocked (or maybe I shouldn't be) to hear Cowell compare one of the contestants (I don't know who is who--who cares) singing to "It's like Star Wars...there is either a dark side or a light side..."

Geezus! It's bad enough that M&M's is pushing the film, and those darn phone commercials, and now Simon Cowell has sold out, too. He looked perfectly uncomfortably when he said those words, as if he was told by Fox to do it. Man... of course, they all sit there with Coca-Cola cups (or whatever it is) in front of them, so I shouldn't be all that surprised.
