Topics I've Started

  1. Where is Mon Mothma

    Posted 22 Jul 2005

I don't really care if she was in there or not, but on the official Star Wars site it says that Mon Mothma is in episode III. I remembered reading about it there months before I saw the movie, and it is still there now. Thinking back, I don't remember seeing her (the woman they have a snapshot of, supposedly from episode III) in the film. It got me to wondering if this was something that was cut from the film, or if it was so completely in the background that it was just Lucas masterbating for connections to the OT. shifty.gif
  2. Symmetrical Vader Mask

    Posted 17 Jul 2005

The DVDs of the original trilogy feature a commentary on Vader in Episode III and features a bunch of Lucas's pompas twits talking about how the screen had never seen a symmetrical Vader mask before. This was already a stupid attitude given that no one I knew had ever noticed, but the handling of Vader in ROTS makes it even more ludicrous. Vader is either staggering and yelling 'Nnnnoooo!!! ' or seen from the side on, and only for a few seconds at that. Even if the mask hass now been magically made in a brand spanking new symmetrical way, who the hell can tell? huh.gif
  3. Captured by ray shielding?

    Posted 16 Jul 2005

Speaking as someone who knows way more about Star Wars than is healthy, like most of us here I'm sure, just why were Obi-Wan, Anakin and Palpatine captured in a ray shield? Those are those pesky things you fire proton torpedos through because lasers won't work, and droids just walk through like water. Why should it stop a group of humans in their tracks?
It is certainly possible that ray shields are unhealthy for living beings, but if so this should have been adressed at least subtley in the script. I'm sure there are any number of ways the problem could have been fixed, but like so many other things, it's just an inconsistent detail left hanging. Even just calling it a shield would have done it.
For any logical explanation to present itself though we would have to expect GL to give the details some thought deeper than, "does it sound kinda cool in a half assed way?". shifty.gif
  4. Order 666 (I mean 66)

    Posted 15 Jul 2005

With all of the nonsense in the PT, has anyone wondered just how much restraint it must have taken George Lucas not to make it order 666? With all the nincompoopery of angels and Tarzan yells from Wookies, its amazing that he was able to resist. sick.gif
