Let's see...Titanic was melodramatic, had bad acting, and TERRIBLE dialogue.

I don't think that is unimaginable in a George Lucas movie, do you?

Just a thought about something wrong with the original Star Wars....

My friend pointed out that when Han Solo is leaving at the end of the film while Luke is getting ready to take on the Death Star, he is loading up large crates that are his "reward."

Was he paid in pennies? I know it was a big reward, but how small is the Star Wars currency that would require him to load many crates onto his ship? Don't they have debit cards? A cashiers check? I just think crates and crates of money is an inefficient way to handle currency.

Another Reason to hate Episode II:

#69. Since when are Jedi's "Not Allowed to Love"?

This is another contrived Lucas addition that he made up to try to create more drama. This was such BS. Suddenly Jedi are like Priests and not allowed to love.

Of course Lucas ruined all spirituality of the Force in Episode I by making the Force some sort of quantifiable organism in your bloodstream, but when he is looking to add some sort of contrived conflict to Anakin's love for Padme suddenly there are Priest-like rules around the Jedi's not being allowed to love.

I can't wait for the sex-scandal to come out that implicates Yoda molesting his young Padawans.

#69.1 Could Lucas be any more unoriginal with the goddam Death Star? Does the Death Star have to be in EVERY movie? I thought it was unoriginal when Return of the Jedi brought out the Death Star again. It was such a half assed, repititious, unoriginal way to end a great saga that it was sickening. Now we see more goddam Death Star crap in Episode II. Look for more Death Star related fun in Episode III.

If anyone watched the documentary in the latest Trilogy DVDs, they talk about how Spielberg was supposed to direct Return of the Jedi originally. Because of Lucas' despute with the Screen Actor's Guild (he refused to run opening credits and was fined for it), he couldn't use Spielberg and had to use a foreign director.

It's a shame, because I don't think Spielberg would have allowed such crappy dialogue, melodrama, and Ewoks in the film. It suddenly turned from an action/adventure epic into a muppet movie in space.

    Very depressing.

Then I don't think much of your moral judgement, frankly - or your sense of priorities. As I pointed out before, Luke truly loathed the Empire for all sorts of reasons; the idea that he would happily switch sides for the sake of a few 'hot chicks' is little short of insulting. What Vader was doing was perfectly sensible - attempting to use Luke's anger and hatred of the Empire against him by making him tap into the Dark Side. He wasn't trying to persuade Luke to 'give into his anger'; he was trying to make him do it involuntarily.

I still think it would have worked better than "Give in to your Anger." That didn't work at all.

I also think some very interesting aliens could have been created. I think "Cuntface" would have made for a nice limited edition action figure. It sure beats the hell out of a blue elephant playing the piano or a bunch of ewoks.
