In Topic: Bless me father, for I have sinned

I'm not watching the Star Wars: Clone Wars film. I've caught some episodes of the series on Cartoon Network, and it was watchable, but I have the OT, and as I've found, that's all I really require. -

A five year old thread! It's like going back in time to see what fans thought before ROTS hit the big screen.
I would say midichlorians... but there's something else that bugged me just as much if not more than that sci-fi, realisitic interpretation of the Force. That is the Virgin Birth of Anakin. I'm going to admit something that might seem funny. When I first watched TPM, and Shmi said: "There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth to him, and I raised him" (something to that effect), I always assumed it was Shmi telling Qui-Gon that she was either raped or was drunk in a cantina when Anakin was conceived... and that the father didn't exist -to her.-
As time went on I discovered that line from Shmi was to be taken very literally, and that was a disappointment. I suddenly saw that for the rip-off of the New Testament that it was. (Yes there are other virigin births in other religions, such as Krishna in Hinduism, but Lucas used to be a Methodist...)
Now we have this brat of a man, that's supposed to be based off of Jesus Christ, who had a virgin birth, and was destined to bring balance to the Force and bring salvation to the galaxy in Return of the Jedi. There's problems with this:
1. He's a brat of a man as Anakin, like I mentioned.
2. He becomes EVIL.
3. At no point in any of the films except for that last part of ROTJ is he anywhere NEAR Christ-like.
Why not give Anakin a father? Maybe he could be deceased in episode 1, but we hear about his exploits and adventures in the prequel trilogy, like we heard of Anakin's in the classic trilogy. That would give the impression that the Skywalker family have ALWAYS been strong in the force dating back to many generations.
But naw. They had to go the easy, uninteresting, and predictable route. -

The more visits, the larger the population, industry, etc. It takes a little while for your city to get off the ground, but then it starts growing pretty fast. I went up +140 last night. If you make a city, give me the link, and I will visit it. We can exchange. -

I'll compliment your treatment of Obi-Wan's character from a very Alpha Male, powerful Jedi to be reckoned with, to a very reserved, wise old man from the desert in the OT.
There are other elements I like in this, especially Anakin very gradually recieving his injuries to the body (instead of all at once like in ROTS)... a friend and I always thought that this is what would happen to Anakin... he was in so many battles that as time went on, more and more cybernetic enhancements had to replace his organs/appendages. Also, not only his body becomes hardened by battle, but also his mind... and I think this results in a PLAUSIBLE transformation to Vader. He's already past his prime, nearly stoic, and like I said... just hardened in general, which lends itself greatly to his evil actions later. He views the galaxy with such objectivity, that by the time the Jedi conspiracy against him is revealed (displacing him from his family), he doesn't have too much compassion and good nature to push aside anyway. I'd have the "big reveal" stand as one of the few emotional experiences Anakin has had in a long time, therefore, it carries much more consequence. Afterward, his humanity is completely buried for the next two and a half decades.
That's just my spin on things. TK-421, if I can be of any service in writing these scripts or novels, let me know. If they are of great quality, and have enough exposure to Original Trilogy enthusiasts... then their reason for existing will be to act as canon for many fans let down by what Lucas gave us in his PT. -

Everyone, a new version of the review has been posted, using MY voice as an alternative to the synthesizer. Much of the dialogue is also different. Note that my voice will become more audible once the "Problemo Numero Uno" pic comes up. Check it out.
