Take Australia for example. They went to Gallipoli, stuffed up, admitted defeat and left.

Actually, the British High Command fucked up and sent many men, including my great granddad to the wrong beach. We did however get our asses handed to us through many other conflicts, Boer War, Vietnam etc due to political mismanagement

I get what you're saying Adam, but the games industry won't grow by sticking antiquated consoles in a room. They're in the exhibit to inspire people to work in the industry hence grow, as well as show Joe Bloggs that games are a bigger thing than a few closet weirdos shooting aliens. That's the point of the exhibit, to educate the public and grow the industry
The guys at ACMI also did a fantastic job getting the local gaming community involved, and the talks, panels and special events are a great way of getting a better understanding of games, the people involved and where it's heading.

I'm not having a go at you personally mate. But i think that, even jokingly, writing it off because one panel went south due to Yatzee fanboys, is quite harsh to the guys who put so much effort putting it together.

Yeah, Game On should never do this again, and stick to being an exhibition.

I realize that you're not trying to offend, but as a member of one of the organising groups I'm annoyed at the suggestion that events like that shouldn't be run because we like to think that we don't need to screen every attendee.

Several talks and industry/education oriented open days were held over the past few months with the goal of trying to raise the profile of games and gamers and the reception has been good with alot of industry input and media profile, its just unfortunate that this event was marred by the polar opposite of the image that we want the industry to have

Sorry bout the sermon but that was bugging me

Garfield minus garfield is brilliant. I don't know why no one thought of it earlier. Can you imagine Calvin and Hobbs.
But this time, there's no Calvin!
That's right. It'd the story of an imaginary schizo tiger who thinks he's the friend of a hyperactive boy.

Curse you baiting my need to photoshop things that aren't readily available on the blogosphere!

The prostitute thing is different then. You definitely have a free camera here in the States.

I think the blood splatters would be a subtle issue to detect. I'd pay attention to whether or not I was inventing the difference, you know?

The wound animations are taken out? That's one of the things that are frighteningly realistic about the current game... I always feel a little sick hunting down one of my victims if they managed to limp away from me. That... doesn't stop me from hunting them down, but I have much more empathy for those in GTA IV than I did in San Andreas, where people shrugged off shots to the chest.

I should clarify, wound animations are in, but the actual bloodstains on clothes are gone, as are the pools of blood. and no the spatter is much much bigger, a head shot will only illicit a tiny amount of blood in the censored version. Whereas in my import (which is UK btw) Niko was shot in the leg and a foot of blood spurted out!

Do the cops continue to shoot you 5 minutes after you're dead and say stuff like "I hope he was guilty"?

some do, I was once drunk driving in the censored copy, accidentally fired my weapon into the ground, was shot by a cop in the head for him to exclaim "Damn drunken immigrants" And I've been hit by an ambulance to and hear the medic say "Did you see his head bounce off the hood?"

In my opinion, the censorship is really minor, things I believe that R* could have put in but didn't due to past issues with the OFLC. They shouldn't have to but at least they're showing a social conscience.
