No I don't. From the OT on it's own, there was very little to support Vader being more stronger than the Emperor. We saw Vader at his best in ESB but in ROTJ he was clearly playing second to the Emperor. But at that point we knew too little about the Emperor. I do not think that many people would have thought of the two ever fighting one another.

Who is to say he didn't give it his all, TruJade? Have YOU ever gone looking for someone you knew who was missing, on just one leg?
