Really? Thought they were better than the crap force fed to us from Lucas on the big screen. I actually think the whole Clone Wars saga going on though the Dark Horse Comics, Novels and this cartoon series has been very good. Surprisingly, Lucas has very little involvement except for the overall direction.

The prequels are making the OT worse by association.

I mentioned this before----- When I watch the OT I do not make the connection with the prequels. I don't look at Darth Vader and think of that little boy who pod raced. I don't look at C3PO as an Anakin Skywalker creation. My brain will not let me relate the two trilogys. And for that I m thankful.

I totally agree. I cannot see how Anakin (big or small) becomes Vader. My mind will not allow it.

Unfortunately, what this prequel is doing is disdaining my interest in teh whole SW saga..not just the prequels.

I think I have made this comparison before:

Geroge Lucas has become Michael Jackson (w/o the pedophilia and surgery). Both did their best work in 1983 and have lived off it ever since. Both are surrounded by yes men who refuse to offer constructive criticism.

Colin Ferrel 10 yrs from now would be good. PJ said during interviews that there was another actor alrweady as Aragorn, but they realized early that he was too young to pull it off. Aragorn needs some age to him, he couldn't be a guy who could pass for 28.

    My 2 cents.

I think Jackson's biggest mistakes were as follows
    1) cramping the story into 3 movies
    2) Hobbit casting (elijah wood has creepy eyes)
    3) stryder/aragorn was the worst casting job I have ever seen in my life, the guy was a total shputz and should have been fired. I read on CNN he was a last minute replacement for Staurt Townsend, some other horrible aragorn guy.

The saruman thing i can understand. Watching a movie drains the shit out of you, so unless you are a BIG LOTR fan you would have thought the whole Saruman/shire thing to be overdoing it.

With Michael Keaton as Batman and Jake Lloyd as young Anakin, I cannot believe you think Viggio was the worst casting job ever. I thought he nailed the part and was a great Aragorn. I will admit, that I am not a Tolkein Scholar. I read the books numerous times but i am not as versed in the history as some. Personal opinions I guess. Liv Tyler I thought from the beginning was a bad cast. That would be my small complaint.

A lot of the scenes that were not in the film like the Healing, Sauraman's fate, etc will be in the extended edition DVD. Three movies was enough. As cool as Bombadil was in the book...in actuality his scenes did not advance the story anymore.

The scrouring of the shire would have been a cool scene just to show how these once timid hobbits were now hardened warriors. I always loved that part. But that would have added another 30 minutes to the film. 4 hours would have been a tad much.

    1. ChefElf made this point (as well as many other good ones) in his original list of reasons, but I emphasize it again here. All of us who watched the orginal trilogy thought that being a jedi was teh coolest shit in the world. The prequels have made this once cool order into a bunch of tightwad, souless assholes.

    2. I always thought that the money in these prequels would be everything that would happen in Ep3, Anakin Fighting Kenobi, becoming Vadar, Jedi being wiped out, twins being separated, etc. The rest would be filler. Being an optomist I have a small glimmer of hope that EP3 will be good...although that hope is getting ever smaller with every new analysis of the shit Lucas has been feeding with the past 2 debacles.
