Oh God, forgot about that. The acting was horrible there. You have a Harrison Ford who didnt want to be back and Carrie Fisher in a drug induced stupor.
At least we get some good lines and entertaining (but over the top) acting from the Emperor -
In Topic: Why Did We Need To Know Vader's Origins?
Posted 25 Jun 2005
Vader's origins should have stayed a mystery. It was much better to make us ponder where he came from. Start him off as a young adult in the Clone Wars. All we should have seen was what Obi Wan told us in ANH. A great pilot and good friend.
As it is we see him as a child, living the easiest life of any slave I've ever seen, with a loving mom and the ability to be the only human (and a kid to boot!) to pilot a pod racer. Sorry, from that I dont see where he got all his anger and hatred from. -

QUOTE (floppydisk @ Jun 24 2005, 01:47 PM)It still makes no sense that the ewoks could beat Stormtroopers. You try throwing rocks at invaders next time and see how well you do.
And besides, a smaller and weaker force can win, but not if they have technology that's outdated by 3000 years. I can't remember what battle it was, but Alexander the great was invading the middle east (like everyone else in history), and was outnumbered something like 3 to 1. He won, but he had the same weapons and technology as hte opposing force.
Exactly. Many of the great Empires usually found they were outnumbered 2-1 or even 3-1 in lands they were trying to conquer. They were able to keep up with the enemy because they usually had better tactics, and weapons on level or better than the peoples they were fighting.
So its not so much the Ewoks couldn't win, but at least make them more savage (cute and cuddly doesn't work in war) and have better weapons at their disposal, especially considering they were up against the best army in the galaxy -

That or
Han "I love you"
Leia "I know"
Why try to rehash that great moment again. -
In Topic: Maybe the Jedi really were evil?
Posted 22 Jun 2005
Simple put, Lucas didn't know what the hell he was doing when he started making Jedi philosophies for the PT. If all Jedi were to have no emotions whatsoever they'd be damn boring. Honestly, if you read the EU and novels that take place 10 years after ROTJ Luke gets a bit boring because he no longer has that anger that made his character interesting and gave him an edge. Lucas's ideal Jedi is nothing more than a boring asshole
