Also, although I agree both Paul and Jacques write excellent fiction, I would venture that the true genius of each lies in different genres: Jacques is perhaps America's greatest living dramatist (most notably in http://www.lanceande. ..agglepuss.shtml and http://www.lanceande. ..es/heman.shtml) and Paul is the world's bravest, brashest investigative reporter (http://www.lanceandeskimo. com/paul/tower.shtml).

I found Salome to be very readable indeed. O hieratic language! and kissing a severed head is WONDERFUL.

Yes, the anarchists would still be in the streets fighting the repressive government. Meanwhile, the People would be tired of the fighting and tired of the bread shortages and the lack of theme parks, and they would ignore the anarchists and cheer as the totalitarians put 'em down.

Since Jacques hasn't written an article since November, 2002--that's more than a year and a half!--I'm always surprised when it just dawns on people that he's maybe retired from Lanceandeskimo. Applications for a robot Jacques would surely be appreciated, but technically Jen and I took over his Thursday slot in December 2002. Then, like so many of our compatriots, we kind of stopped posting new articles. I don't think any one of us is technically retired, however; Paul and Jen and I may be diminishing, and going into the West, but we may pull out our Elven rings once or twice more to dazzle you, darlings.
