Topics I've Started

  1. An award for valour.

    Posted 29 Oct 2004

Well done Yahtz, wish I'd been there at your first gig.

The amount of guts it must have taken is beyond my imagining.
  2. War music

    Posted 2 Sep 2004

Did any other Australians see The Sound of War on the ABC last night?
I expected it to be full of the stereotypical, gungho American soldiers we hear about, but it wasn't... I laughed and I cried.
I hoped their families could see it.
I wanted to hug everyone of them.
George Gittoes did an amazing job, I learned a hell of a lot and was humbled by it.

I wish them all a safe return home.
  3. Don't you just love him?

    Posted 2 Sep 2004

    I told you didn't I?

I told you he was an adorable arse'ole, didn't I?

I'm exactly like him you see. (oh yes).

I bet if you were to meet him, he'd be polite, shy, diffident even...
yet underneath he'd be seething with murderous hatred,
imagining the hideous death he'd planned for you.

    Hee hee. (gleeful snigger).

I'd like to get up Yahtzees nose,
knowing that he hated me and couldn't show it.
I'd be thinking, come on you bastard, show your true colours, but he wouldn't, he'd be the well-brought up English boy who can only say what he feels on the internet.

    Right?
  4. Rhubarb dips a toe in the waters of power abuse

    Posted 27 Jul 2004

This morning I was told I was as much use as tits on a bull.

An English friend says I'm as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Here's the one I just made up...

*As much use as a fishnet comdom.*

    Signed- Useless.
  5. Reagans funeral

    Posted 12 Jun 2004

I have no desire to offend anyone, especially my American friends, whom I love.
BUT, isn't this funeral a bit much? Everyday this week our news in Australia was full of coffins and flags and weeping women. Each day I thought, 'this is the funeral', but no, there were still days to go. The horse with reversed boots was a bit cheeky, the tribute to the warrior, Ron wasn't a warrior, he just acted in some films in uniform. Sorry, but the poor little widow pathetically touching the coffin at every chance made my cynical mind think 'film actress','good photo opportunity'. Then we saw dear old Maggie Thatcher getting in on the act. I bet it will be the thing to do from now on at all funerals.
I don't know much about Reagans politics, except that he was rightwing and didn't give the poor and blacks much reason to love him.
Still he's buried now, he was very old and had Alzeimers, let that be the end.
