I'm planning on buying all the VHS I can get my hands on. I figure everyone will be selling their old VHS copies when they buy the DVDs, so I'll just buy them back up from the resale shop in town.
Right now I have 5 copies of the OT, but I want to be safe. But there is no way Lucas is going to get any of my money from that crapfest! =)

Well, we can all hope that he's an idiot. But if you look at it from the opposite angle, that he never knew it was ever just "Star Wars" and had always thought it was "A New Hope", then it is bad news. Now I'm just confused. It was an unfortunate wording choice, and you can never be too sure of when people are just being idiots.
I guess I won't make any more judgments on the matter until I get more information.

Okay, the exact quote goes like this-
"...and will rename ''Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope.''"

I left out the quote marks the first time, I didn't even think about it. It seems to me, though, if he was saying what you thought he was, Vwing, he would have said "...and will rename "Star Wars:Episode IV"--"A New Hope."", with the two titles separated with separate quote marks. I actually have no idea though, that's just what I would have done. I know it's getting a little messy now, though, so I'll just leave it alone. I am way too confused now to do anything.

    from Entertainment Weekly

"The four disc Star Wars DVD set will comprise the 1997 Special Edition versions (now on VHS), and will rename the original 1977 Star Wars:Episode IV-A New Hope. After all, the latest films are prequels."
    -Noah Robischon

After all of the stupid things Lucas has done, it kinda makes sense. Of course, I was hesitant about the whole thing in the first place, but if he renames the first movie there's no way in hell I'm going to buy it. He tampered with it enough. I'll keep stockpiling my VHS collection.

Hey you guys, I don't know if someone else mentioned this in a different thread, and if they did I'm sorry.
Anyway, I was reading EW this week and they had a little blurb about the OT coming out on DVD. They said the same thing, that is was going to be the special edition, but they also said that Lucas was going to rename "A New Hope" so that it would make more sense with the prequels and whatnot. Sorry I don't have the exact quote, I don't have the EW with me. Has anyone heard anything to confirm or deny this?

I don't think Merry was confonting him about his smoking problem, I think it was just something to remember him by because they were being seperated and didn't know when/if they would ever see each other again. The bag of weed was just a reminder of the Shire and of their friendship; if I'm not mistaken, there is supposed to be a scene stuck in there where Merry tells Pip that they will see the Shire again. It would have been cute. Something PJ cut at the last minute! GRR!!

But I thought that Merry and Pippin being high was hilarious, the way they were both giggling and eating everything at Isengard. I loved it. biggrin.gif
Maybe that's why Pip liked the Palantir so much, because he was wasted and liked the pretty lights inside swirling around.
