This has probably been covered, but I just noticed it today upon watching my brand new Laserdisc DVD copies, the opening of ROTJ has C3PO and R2D2 walking towards Jabba's palace when Threepio remarks that "Poor Lando Calrissean and Chewbacca never returned from this place." Yet later on, Leia shows up with Chewbacca in tow. What gives?

Was inspiried by a post from Civilian Number Two in another forum to search down an old Rolling Stone article:

One interesting thing, he talks about his plans for a sequel and this is what he says:

"It's about Ben and Luke's father and Vader when they are young Jedi knights. But Vader kills Luke's father, then Ben and Vader have a confrontation, just like they have in Star Wars, and Ben almost kills Vader. As a matter of fact, he falls into a volcanic pit and gets fried and is one destroyed being. That's why he has to wear the suit with a mask, because it's a breathing mask. It's like a walking iron lung. His face is all horrible inside. I was going to shoot a close-up of Vader where you could see the inside of his face, but then we said, no, no, it would destroy the mystique of the whole thing."

I gotta give it to him that at LEAT he stuck with this, even though he's lying about Vader and Luke's father always planned as the same person.

I was just thinking today, why even reveal the twins' names at the end of ROTS and where they end up before episode IV? We know they're Luke and Leia, but if Lucas really intends the trilogy to be watched in order 1-6, then those who haven't seen 4-6 will already know Leia is Luke's sister and ruin the reveal. If nothing had been said we'd only know about Luke and would wonder what ever happened to Luke's twin, and then aha, a big reveal in ROTJ. But now there's no surprise.

I posted this as a reply somewhere else, but it might get swallowed up. I've never ever seen a laserdisc movie. How do they par up to DVD? I know they're better than VHS but do they even approach DVD quality? I'm wondering because I might get the OT and I just want to know if it would be worth the money or if I should just settle with my VHS copies.
