Hey I know I've been gone a while, but it's sad not seeing everyone around here that I was used to seeing. What happened to all the regular posters? Did real life start getting in the way of all of the digital shenanigans we used to take part in, because I remember some great stuff in the glory days of this forum. Ah, good memories.

Edit: Sigh, I just took a look at at least two dozen people's profiles, and most haven't signed on in months, some in years. Kind of depressing really.

I'm in Irvine California right now. I was at the San Diego Comic-Con the past few days and wasn't logging in. In general though I agree; a lot of people seem to have moved on from here. I look in regularly, but mostly i just reply to the odd topic and delete spam. The old crowd just doesn't seem to have the time to get into a good dust-up anymore.

Maybe when I get back to Vancouver I'll start up a thread about how much I hated the Star Trek movie. Since all I seem to find is love for it, that might be a good time.

Maybe if I send an email out to everyone's email... Plenty of people only last visited a few months ago.

If you write it, I'll read it, Civ. The weight of the world has begun to crush me, but I still come in from time to time and read whats new.

Yeah, me to. Please do, civ. I've seen lots of people bitching about how they hated new Star Trek, so I looked it up in the net (Praise the Lord for megavideo) and honestly, I liked it! Strangely enough, I also liked Prince of Persia, which I set out to hate.

And on topic - I am still here, (I've been gone for the best part of three years for both forum-related and private reasons) but now I check regularly.

I'm still doing my usual drop in for a bit and then wander off for a while. Despite all the mobile technology I still drop out for periods of time. It just appears to be a trait of mine. I find it happens on all mediums that I work in though so it's just me :-)

I've been away getting far too obsessed with Kingdom of Loathing. Then I finally got a job, and so any time not messing around in KoL has been spent trying to write interesting things about footballs, bedding, Bratz dolls, and whatever crap a toy company wants on their website.

I'm doing Nanowrimo again this year. I might even get to 30k words this year before getting distracted and throwing the whole thing into a fire.

I'm up for a good nerdy movie debate, Civ... also, did you take part in the Fred Phelps counter-protest at SCC? That'd be awesome. I think I'll start a thread too.

That Fred Phelps thing was over before I even knew it happened. I definitely would have watched, but by the time I heard of it, there was nothing to see.

Thats a shame, any chance to mock that guy is one not to be missed. Aside from that, what were you up to at comic con?

By the way, I did end up purchasing Wind That Shakes The Barley and it was a really good film, definitely a lot more down to earth than the more well known Michael Collins biographic.

Yeah, despite the fact that MC is based on real events, and TWTSTB is fiction, the latter seems more authentic.

Comic-con was IMO a bit of an ordeal. You only pay for entry to the thing; entry does not guarantee you access to anything. So it's lines, lines, lines. I went to several smaller events just to avoid lines, but I did endure the LEVERAGE panel and sorta enjoyed the VENTURE BROS panel, but I sat through both just so I could see the SANCTUARY event. Since I worked on that show, I figured I should attend. And then I stayed for the GUILD panel, because while the show is silly, Felicia Day is cute. I did meet her and get her to sign something. I also went for a screening of THE LEGEND OF NEIL, because I think that webseries is funny, but again I had to sit through an event I wasn't interested in just to get me a seat. For my money and time, that's just too much work. It's pretty odd to spend all that time and effort just to be marketed to. In the end, I'm glad I finally did it, but I'd rather have attended a game convention, where your admission comes with preregistered events.

I know what you mean about that, I've always remembered what Kesey said in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest "It's the truth, even if it didn't happen" I always liked that phrase in regards to fiction. They did dramatize a good bit of the issues in Michael Collins, and while I think DeValera was kind of a dick, I'm no longer so certain that Collins was such a great guy... Though I kinda have to say the treaty supporters were being more realistic. Either way, the English were wrong, and responsible for the entire civil war in the first place, so I can see why the Irish wouldnt really want to ever discuss the whole business.

I hear the lines can be wild for that sort of stuff, definitely doesnt sound like my kind of thing since I'm not so much the people person, but at least you got to go to some of the panels you wanted. I'm kinda interested in Venture Bros myself, just ordered season one and 2 to check them out.

Wow, I haven't even taken a look at the place in just shy of two years ...
Here today on a whim.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

I think I shall. A little disappointing though. It looks like in some places the newest post was around a year ago. It's as though you could hear the dust settling.
