Anybody here use a computer to create music? I do, as some of you may know. Either way, what software do you use? I use the following:

Fruity Loops 3.4
ACID Pro 4.0
MS Sound Recorder (shut up)
Audacity (open source Cool Edit alternative)
and, of course, my good friend SayzMe (this may seem like an odd choice, but I do use it for music creation)
I also use a little shareware thing called Yamp to convert my wav files to MP3s and vice-versa.

You can actually experiment with it and create some interesting loops. Sort of similar to the tape-looping practices of yore.

I think Jonti Picking (Weebl) made an unreleased song with a program called Reason, but I don't know any more than that. I don't even know where to find the song again.

MS Sound Recorder. It's a wonder to behold. I've never used anything else - you don't need ta unless you're into more extravagant sound manipulations.

I also use Yamp for ripping, converting, that kinda thing. It's handy and easy to use.

I love Audacity - simple and brilliant. It reproduces live sound exactly as you originally produce it. I wish I had a laptop with audacity a couple of years ago when my mate and I were recording heaps of original songs. The tapes are good, don't get me wrong... but if the songs were on file on the computer, it would so much easier to compile them, etc - and they'd be better preserved. Alas, the opportunity is lost as now my mate and I are living in different hemispheres...

Sorry. Audacity is great. That's what I meant to say.

I love Vegas, works well with video editing too, but Adobe Premiere Pro gets the job done at a much better rate.

I use...

FruityLoops 3.4
Acid Pro 4
Vegas
Sound Forge
(And some converting program but I don't remember the name)
Audio Grabber
PRECIOUS VELIUS....
