SPOILERS GALORE!!!

Now that Leigh Brackett's long lost (but oft mentioned) Rough Draft of Empire Strikes Back (then known only as "Star Wars Sequel") has been published online, I thought we should talk about some of the "revelations" from it.

I read through it and came across... an honest to goodness JEDI OATH.

Unsurprisingly, it's nothing like the "Jedi Code" we get from either the Expanded Universe or what it seems to be in the Prequel trilogy.

Instead we get (and yes, that's the Force ghost of Luke's father who is doing the talking there, and "Minch" is Yoda):

Quote

SKYWALKER
Will you take, from me, the oath of a Jedi knight?
Slowly, proudly, Luke draws his light saber and activates it, bringing it to the salute. Skywalker does the same. Ben and Minch also raise their sabers, standing by as witnesses.

I, Luke Skywalker...
do swear on my honor, and on the faith of the brotherhood of knights, to use the Force only for good, turning always from the Dark Side; to dedicate my life to the cause of freedom, and justice. If I should fail of this vow, my life shall be forfeit, here and hereafter.
The four sabers touch, a kind of ceremonial amen.

Other revelations: Luke's sister is named Nellith. The ice planet isn't named Hoth. Instead Hoth refers to the planet now known as "Besspin Kaalieda" (or Kaalida). To further confuse long-time ESB viewers, Bespin ("Besspin Kaalieda") is a paradise-like planet of "brilliant moons illuminating beautiful gardens" where the Rebels go after escaping the Empire on "Hoth" (home of cloud city).

Ovan Marekal is built up as a major character. Who, you ask? Only the "most powerful man in the galaxy" next to Vader and the Emperor, leader of the Transport Guild. The Rebels are determined to try to convince him to join their side, before he sides with the Empire.

Lando is a clone (I'd heard this one before, but it's nice to finally see proof).

PS: Oh you haven't read it yet? Well head on over here (one of many places) and read it! http://starwarz.com/...leigh-brackett/
