Just thought I'd put this up in it's own location for people to comment. It will also prove easier to keep track of the attempt to recite the musical. biggrin.gif

JAVERT: Now bring me prisoner 24601, your time is up, and your parole's begun. You know what that means.

Good idea Supes. Der Fadda insists I put his favourite up:

There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on
Empty chairs at empty tables
Now my friends are dead and gone.

Says much for the futility of war I think.
Don't hit your mum, she's doing her best

I like that one, Mudda. Turning also has a nice anti-war sentiment to it.

Supes: Should the lyrics only go in here, or in other posts too? huh.gif

Javert: No. It means you get your yellow ticket of leave.
I'm comfortably numb.

Jimbo: We had to kill them to keep them from going extinct.

The best is, and always will be,

JAVERT: And must I now begin to doubt,
Who never doubted all these years?
My heart is stone and still it trembles
The world I have known is lost in shadow.

or its musical twin, from much earlier on,

VALJEAN: Yet why did I allow that man
To touch my soul and teach me love?
He treated me like any other
He gave me his trust
He called me brother

I like how they show that Javert goes through a similar thing to Valjean, but he can't handle it. Of course, Javert has a more vicious awakening as well.

Every song in there is good depending on what your qualifying standards are. Since the story runs the whole gambit of humanity, I don't think there's really a best. I always preferred Who Am I, Stars, Master of the House, and On My Own but God on High is amazing since Valjean needs an incredible range to be able to sing it. Meh, I like 'em all. tongue.gif

God on High? Never heard of that one... but I have a CD of the Albert Hall 25th anniersary performance, so it might have been slightly messed around with for that performance. As for best songs, I'd add "In My Life" without a doubt, but except for that I agree totally.

Valjean: "I stole a loaf of bread."

Someone hates Les Mis, or were they just trying to even out the poll? huh.gif

Guest: Do you happen to be someone who didn't sign in (ie Supes), or are you really a guest? God on High is where Valjean is praying for Marius to live through the final stand of the revolutionaries and attempting to bargain his life for Marius'. It may be called something else as well. It comes right after Drink With Me.

Chyld: Hope you enjoy it. happy.gif

Javert: "You robbed a house."

Yes indeed you are Sime and Chyld! If you're in Sydney and it comes along I'll take you myself. If I'm in England and nearby and it's playing. I'll do the same.

And Mist "guest" was not me. I believe Guest is just that. They post quite a bit throughout the forum and I'm pleased to see them here also. It might also be good to keep the lyrics stationed here just so they don't get lost amoung other posts and thus multiple lines repeated.

Well, next time it comes to Sydney it will likely come to Perth, so I should be able to catch it there.
