Hmm. The astronaut might be a little embarassed to be fighting naked, which might make him hesitate at the beginning. That'd give the caveman an advantage right away.

Janey said in her first post that he wouldn't have that.

No, I meant the big hulking spacesuit he has in the picture. The jumpsuit is just basic everyday apparel, I think.
Check out my crappy drawings!

Nevermind, then. I still vote for the caveman, though, because, as has been mentioned so often before, he would be completely used to fighting for his life, and would be much stronger, faster, and adept at fighting than the astronaut.

Caveman is:

Oh the sterotypes that abound about the poor caveman! Civ, I am surprised at you! You are normally more prepared than this:

QUOTE
a ) nasty.

How do you know! Just because he is primative does not make him nasty. There are many examples of primative cutlures proving to be quite nice. Most of the Aboriginal people of Australia were quite peaceful until they were gunned down by the white man. Also many of the American Indian tribes also welcomed the new comers until they were gunned down by the white man. I think it is a terrible misconception that the caveman is nasty. There is no evidence only popular culture.

QUOTE
b ) brutish.

Again simply a pop culture conception that is based on his clothes. Sure the caveman wore animal skins, but it's not as if they had the Armani down the road that they could pop into. Having said that, he generally only wore fitted clothing that was specially tailored for his wearing. So therein lies a certain level of sophistication by our capitalist standards if you want to look for it. biggrin.gif

QUOTE
c ) short.

Well yes! This we do have the evidence for. But I certainly don't think that diminishes his capability in any way. Bruce Lee may also have argued against this point along with the myriad of other vertically challenged martially proficient people.

So there! tongue.gif

Supes, did you ever go on the Endevour replica they made? I remember going on it when I was little, and even then I wouldn't've been able to fit in the beds. If they were tiny in the 1700's, imagine the cavemen.

Ah, but Sime I don't have to imagine the caveman. There is enough physical evidence in existence to provide a very good indication of their actual size.

Yes I've been on the Endeavour replica - a mate of mine actually used to co-ordinate the crew recruiting for the Bark Endeavour. The people in the 1700's didn't exactly have expanses of room to move in those bunks either. They were not built for comfort by any means.

I remember reading somewhere that a seaman had 14 inches of space, the width of his hammock.
Very hard to imagine the discomfort they must have lived in.
Only the rich had any form of comfort then I suppose.
