So do any of you guys write Star Wars fanfic? I know Chefelf said he wrote some when he was younger. Am I the only other one who gets the urge?

I've written some KOTOR stuff, a sort of prequel focussing on Bastila's life prior to the events in the game. I've also vaguely considered writing my own version of the Prequels, but even in script form it would be such a huge undertaking that I'd never get anywhere near finishing it. Besides which, I can't write dialogue to save my life (yeah, I know Lucas can't either, but that's not quite the point...)

What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

I wrote stupid stories when I was younger - one was about the adventures of a few X-Wing pilots who operated in small missions without back-up and somehow delivered crushing blows to the Empire on a regular basis. It was pretty far-fetched. Oh yes and I think they got B-Wings sometimes... these guys were able to pull rank to get whatever ships they felt they required, a bit pushy when I think about it.

I wrote another one about some fiercely competitive bounty hunters who would knock each other off if they had to, to stop them from getting the catch first.

Haven't written anything for many years though.

When I was 15 I wrote a short story about a Bounty Hunter I created named Grenn Bolter.

He was raised in a rich household, his family died. He got a shit load of cash and moved to tatooine (why that place, because it's the only place I knew well from the movies). At one point he got in a terrible speeder bike accident, and had to use his fast wealth in repairing himself with cybernetic parts suchas- an arm , leg and eye.

I never explained why he became a bounty hunter, he just did. I guess boba fett had an affect on me too. Now that i look back I was such a fool, falling for the BOBA fad. sad.gif

I never wrote any Star Wars fanfiction, but I did write a Lionking story once when I fifteen. It's been long since lost, but I don't care for it anymore, it was poorly written and had a fairly bizaare plot.

I did write a lot of Quest for Glory FanFiction, though, but I don't like them anymore due to personal reasons. Although almost everyone who read them said they were great and well written. I never took English writing as a serious subject when I was in school, so I had almost no idea about grammar, punctuation and whatnot. But thankfully, I've been taking lessons from some friends of mine online, they helped a lot.

To be truthful, Helena....I have written an entire alternate Pre-quel trilogy and nearly a dozen sequel stories that take place after the Original Trilogy.

I think i mentioned some of those Prequel trilogy ideas with you on a previous post.

These stories will be available on my website, once I get the damn thing up....

To give you a taste of some of the ideas in my pre-quel trilogy

1. Qui-Jon is replaced by Obi-Wan's brother......Owen Lars who is a Jedi

2. Naboo becomes Alderaan

3. There are more than two Sith Lords, but only Palpatine and Darth Maul take part. In fact there is a whole Sith Lord 'school" to rival the Jedi's academy

4. The clone soldiers replace the droid army in Episode I. It is the clone army that is attacking Alderaan

5. Anakin is still a young boy in Episode I....but his lines and manner is completetly different. He is also treated the way a slave is REALLY treated, {I include a scene where Anakin has whip marks, from Watto}

6. Darth Maul is given an expanded role and personality, He survives till Episode II, where it is Anakin that kills Maul. It is Anakins killing of MAul that begis his descent to the darkside {because Anakin used anger to kill Maul}

Just some idea. I will let you guys know when my site is up...which at the rate I am working these days will probably be like two years!!! dry.gif dry.gif

Just wondering: how can Owen be Obi-Wan's brother when his surname is Lars and Obi's is Kenobi?

They can't be any more far-fetched than these PT films Lucas has wrought. :yuck:

Seriously though, I would like to hear some of these X-wing stories, jyamg. smile.gif

Not really, during the days of World War I, some of the elite German pilots were able to get and custom design their own planes to their own unique needs. These pilots were treated like royalty among the infantry.

In the old Soviet Air-Force pilots of a certain rank, regularly switched from flying Mig 29s to Su27 fighters on their own will. and even switched "theatres" whenever they wanted. {Don't ask how I know this stuff, }

I dunno, ask George Lucas......because in the screenplay and novelization of Return of the Jedi.. Obi-Wan says this line.......

"When your mother was pregnant, your father didn;t know.....I took you to live with my brother Owen on Tatooine...while your sister, Leia went to live with your mother on Alderaan."

I always thought all along that Obi-Wan was Lars brother.. I am surprised that a lot of other people never mentioned this. I guess if you want tobe true to the movie, Obi-Wan never says this line, but it was as best to my knowledge in the screenplay.

Besides, Owen Lars could easily be a an alias, much in the same way that "Ben" Kenobi is. {though a whole lot better!!!! biggrin.gif }

I actually made his name Owen-Lars Kenobi in my prequels. So that covers it. If you can come up with a better permutation on Owen-Lars Kenobi, let me know. cool.gif

one choice was Ven-Lars Kenobi or Sven-Lars Kenobi laugh.gif

I wonder if I still have them.... they were pretty bad though. I can remember one of the pilots saying something along the lines of "Looks like we're heading into another damn tie fighter field." Nothing bad seemed to happen to any of these characters - they were all so cocky and so damn invulnerable.

I think sometimes they had to ditch their ships or they were captured by Imperials or marooned but they always seemed to get away with no problem.

If I ever come across those stories next time I'm in Australia, I'll let you know. smile.gif

I wrote and re-wrote several times a story about Grand Admiral Thrawn and his early career. He was kind of a Jack Ryan type, but obviously a little more ruthless. His entire family was killed off by the Empire (this was well before I read the "book" Shadows of the Empire) and he was sent to a special academy for bright youths. His species was known for their high-level intelligence, but usually peace loving demeanor. Anyhow, he despised Vader, didn't like the Emperor too well and thought the military should have been better organized and utilized. I had hoped to chronicle more of Thrawn's adventures and his friendships with various officers seen throughout the films. It would have been kind of cool. The other part was that it took place around the time of ANH and went right along with the movie timeline.

Anyhow, I never finished. As a matter of fact, I've never finished anything I started writing... sad. sad.gif

Persistence, that's the key, my friend. Man, a backstory for Grand Admiral Thrawn. Now that would be worth a look. He is an excellent character.

I wish that there hadn't been any other Star Wars novels written after the Thrawn Trilogy actually. That was a perfect ending to it all. And I wish George Lucas had got off his ass back when the window of opportunity was open and commisioned someone to make those novels into films - instead of making his wretched prequels....

Sorry. Got a bit carried away there. I like your choice for fan fiction subject matter very much, Ferris. That would make great, intelligent and entertaining reading.

Actually, I take that back - I wish there hadn't been any Star Wars novels written by other authors, with the exception of Michael A. Stackpole (I understand a lot of his X-Wing stuff is supposed to be pretty good). Timothy Zahn can keep making Star Wars novels as long as he wants. He's got a damn fine track record. The Hand of Thrawn dualogy was pretty cool actually.

And hey, check this out...

Timothy Zahn - Survivor's Quest. Interview.

Sounds good.

I disagree with that, Especially since there was no "end" in that trilogy.

i think too many people view the Zahn Trilogy as a "the" sequel" trilogy to the original films. I know I thought that when reading the boks and became disappointed with it.

I think the proper way to view the Zahn trilogy is that it is just one of many stories that take place in the time after Return of the Jedi.

The only book that I feel captured Star Wars was Wolverton's "The Courtship of Princess Leia"

Zahn's trilogy was O.K. but it falls short on several points.

I think the reason I and other people rever the Zahn trilogy so much was that it was the first Star Wars material too come out in so long. EVRY star Wars nut raced out to get 'Heir to the Empire" once they caught wind of it's existence.

The first book Heir to the Empire was on the bestsellers list for weeks.

Yup, and Lucas canonized the novels so he could help fuel the buzz, from which he pulled in more filthy lucre. The rat. The bastard. the rat-bastard.

Later he said words to the effect that he appreciated all the work put out by other authors, but that the films were the only real STAR WARS.

etc.

Anyway:: LEGEND! At LAST!
