Star Wars: the videogames are you into them?

into the SW expanded universe. I owned Jedi Knight on my old PC, and loved that game. But after that, I didnt touch another game.
Seeing that these prequels suck so much, should we rely on Knights of the Old Republic and Jedi Outcast to fill the huge gap of SW that Lucas left?

As for me, I'm having a hard time getting myself to write anything. Although I HOPE to start again soon when I get some writing spirit into me.
As for the games, I think they're great. Jedi Knight: Outcast did have some plot and logical problem, but the action and gameplay are fantastic. I can't comment on Knights of the Old Republic since I never played it.

Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy was horrible. If you don't believe me: read my review here.
Knights of the Old Republic is not only the best Star Wars game ever made but one of the best Xbox games ever made. Apart from Halo I am hard pressed to think of a better game and the Halo comparison isn't really fair since both games are just about as opposite as you can get without one of them featuring an animated unicorn or fairy princess.
There are plenty of excellent Star Wars games... and plenty of real dogs.

I hated the fact that in Jedi Knight, it was a requirement in order to finish some of the levels, to use your lightsabre and some of the force powers - ie. the levels that involved fighting the dark jedi.
I discovered this when after shooting twenty rockets into some dark jedi's head, he still kept coming after me. I can't stand that type of thing.
However, my enjoyment of the game was greatly enhanced when I found all the cheat codes - so I could skip the fights with the dark jedi and get back to shooting stormtroopers.
Having said all of that, I'd love to have a copy of Dark Forces that would run on newer computers - I hate how new computers aren't compatible with old software.

Super ROTJ was blew monkey ding-a-ling. It lacked the charm of Super ESB and the cool playability, it didn't give you the best weapon-choice options and the cheats sucked.

All the side-scrolling Star Wars games for NES/SNES were horrible. They were poorly done, loosely based on the movies and not fun in any way.
Remember Super Star Wars? You had to climb up the Jawa Sandcrawler (JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIE!!!) which apparently was about 45,000 feet tall and 600,000 feet wide.
Lame.

- Luke had to fight his way through a sand crawler the size of the death star.
- He had to jump across floating rocks, thousands of feet in the air, while pteranadons attacked him.
- In the Empire Strikes Back, he had to fight an enormous wampa monster and another monster on Dagobah that was immune to lightsabre slashing...
... actually all the big baddies were immune to lightsabre slashing! It was just like in that bloody Jedi Knight game. If you get a lightsabre slash in on your opponent, your opponent should be gone. Yes, this does not make for good gameplay - and this is why Star Wars games should not use lightsabres. They should stick to shoot-em ups and dog-fights with enemy fighters... in my humble opinion.
I never got into Super Return of the Jedi, because I couldn't get past that stupid first level when you're approaching Jabba the Hutt's palace.
I liked the end of Super The Empire Strikes Back though. One complaint however -
as Han Solo, I destroyed the freezing chamber. Once the level was over, it went to a cutscene where I was frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It seemed kind of stupid to put that level in, considering that it didn't help me out in any way.
Lastly, I think those games were generally too hard to play. Super Star Wars was the only one I could actually complete without using those cheat codes to skip levels and get extra lives.
Some people don't mind really difficult computer games. I do. I don't want to waste money on something that I can't complete. And don't any of you tell me that I could complete these things if I practiced. I know what you mean by that - but the amount of practice that is required to get the hang of some of these games is ridiculous. Most people do not have that kind of time.

No offense, but that's pretty pathetic . I thought the SNES Star Wars games got better as they went along. Super Star Wars was decent but didn't look that good and was even less related to the movies than the others (Luke has to jump over tie fighters and actually fight the tractor beam generator? I mean come on), ESB gave you all of the Force options and more gameplay with a lightsaber, which was pretty cool, and where you fight Vader is nice, but still has ridiculous stuff like being able to float and other ridiculous force powers. But ROTJ has the best graphicsx and smoothest gameplay.

In my defence, I was playing it on a laptop - with a laptop keyboard... with the controls being the same letters that are on the ninendo controller - A, B, X and Y or something like that. But yeah, it was a bit pathetic.
At the time, I hadn't really played computer games for more than a year. Now, it's pushing on two years since I last played one.
I just fondly remember Dark Forces. Ah, that was a good game.
