Wow, that's crazy. So would it ban all of lanceandeskimo.com or just the offending pages?

This is very interesting. Is there any way I could change the pages to make them accessible? Or make some sort of UAE approved mirror of the pages called "78 Reasons to Strongy Dislike and Disapprove of Star Wars: Episode I"?

Moving to the Star Wars Forum.

I know! Damn it! If only it wasn't so much work to go through and change everything.

Also, changing everything would be a Lucas move now, wouldn't it?

No, Chef, you don't have to change anything. I already said, I'll take care of it. The people over there maybe a bunch of witless religious fanatics, but they CAN be reasoned with. If I can show them why and how your website cannot do any harm and how it contains nothing questionable whatsoever, and I CAN show them, too.

I don't think that Lance and Eskimo have been censored in their entirety. I'll have to look into it once I head back to work (some problems resulted and I couldn't get back to work after my lunch break was over and I've taken sick leave today because I have a nasty cold :yuck: ).

What engineering field do you study/work in?

I don't study engineering. My Dad just arranged this job because he didn't want me to sit on my flaccid rear end the whole summer and play video games the whole time. But I'm very happy with it and I think I use it for my resume once I graduate next year.

But just as a trivia fact, my field of study is Bus Admin majoring in Tourism Management, but I'll be taking my 2nd Bachelors in Accounting, since I've wanted to be an accountant ever since I was 13 years old... and there comes the fact that I've been taking accounting classes of some kind since then!

Paladin: I was under the impression that before the islamic revolution Iran was just a fascist puppet-state of the US and the Shah was a very vad person. I havn't read up about Lebanon very much though I'm deeply interested in the Palestinian struggle (I currently have my resume with the interior ministry of the PLO, if they havn't been blown up yet) I know that Syria has no business being in Lebanon but it was to my understanding that they were helping Hizballah to defeat Israel.

I'm not too sure about Israel being free. They routinely commit genocide on the Palestinians and even torture and imprison their own civilians without trial, much less Palestinians. And of course Israel also imprisons at least 200 Israelis who have refused to serve in the West Bank or Gaze (In Israel every single person has to join the military, that's not very free at all) I guess my views might be biased, I was with the ANSWER coalition when they were mourning for Ahmed Yassin and later the next leader of Hamas, though due to American laws I suppose I'm required to condemn Hamas as terrorists since supporting Hamas, even its charitable wing (they provide the majority of school and health care in Gaza and some of the West Bank) would be a felony.

OK, I got a reply, they've put my request under consideration. Now all I can do is just wait and hope for the best.

Keep your fingers crossed. ph34r.gif

Do you want me to send you the HTML or something? I understand you want to get it unblocked for obvious reasons but in the meantime let me know if I can send anything your way.

No thanks. You see, I have a lease line at home, meaning I can break through the proxy and surf whereever I want. It's just that the average Joe in the UAE won't be able to see it.

But that's life, I'm afraid. But I DO believe it might have been a mistake, I HAVE seen some websites get censored and then have the censor get lifted on them and become accessible again. ANother thing is that I'm NOT entirely sure why your webpages were censored to begin with. I threw a guess at the 'hate' part because they HAVE censored stuff like that because of petty reasons such as an seemingly inappropriate word somewhere.

Another funny thing is Newgrounds.com, a flash website that has everything from G-rated stuff to the most violent/sexual s**t you've ever seen. It was censored before, but amazingly enough had the censor lifted relatively recently! This is one small phenominon that I don't understand.

Anyhow, thanks for the offer though, you're a great guy. smile.gif wub.gif

Chefelf complaining about Star Wars:

Actually, Newgrounds doesn't allow hard core porn on their website. But nonetheless, sexuality and nuditiy are very common.

Anyhow, I'll be going to work soon and I'll check out whether they've unblocked it or not. I recieved a message from the company and they say they've put it under consideration. Now all I can do is just wait and see if anything happens. wink.gif

Still no news. I'll give it to the end of the week and see if anything happens. If nothing happens, I'll send another plea to them to have it unblocked.

Once again, Chefelf's webpages are still blocked. If nothing happens by tommorrow, I'll give them another call.

I hope I don't fail this time.

Thanks. But there is a problem with it all. When I recieved a computer generated reply from the company, they said that my request has been placed under review. They also gave me a number which I could use to see the status of my request.

Unfortunately, the URL that they provided required a username and password to access, and I have neither. So I have absolutely no idea whether it has been accepted or not, or how long it's going to take. For all I know, it could be several weeks, or maybe even a month, I really have no idea.

Still, it's worth giving a shot.

That sounds like a nice little system they've got going when you can't actually ever find out what's going on. Sounds like something from Catch-22. In particular, it reminded me about Major Major not letting anyone into his office until he had left it - so that nobody could actually ever talk to him.
