While puffins are still cool, shovels are better at, to put it in Jane-y terms, stoving in peoples faces. So... shovel.

A puffin can't carry a shovel! That'd be less likely than a swallow (African and European) being able to carry a coconut!

Maybe he thought the second puffin would add the needed force to lift the shovel, but I still maintain that they'll simply fall off the cliff without being able to fly.
I'm comfortably numb.

Are we forgeting that the shovel (and the spade next to it) is inanimate and would need for somebody to actually pick it up and start a-stovin' the puffin's face in? I reckon the shovel (and spade) would win by merely outlasting the puffin.
