If looking for great music, you can't go past Tripod. Well, you can, but that would just be stupid. They're not music in the classical sense, but rather comedians who instead of doing a straight stand-up routine, tend to sing they're songs. They have a few albums out, although I'm not too sure whats available outside of Australia. Checking Kazaa and so on, you may be able to find a few of the more well known ones. Also, there's the song in an hour challange they do on Triple J. Basically, they come into the Triple J studios(a nation wide radio station)each Tuesday morning, where they are given some random topics. An hour later, they have to perform a song about the topics live to the nation. If you go to http://abc.net.au/tr...bag/default.htm there should be some of them there. My favourite, Alternative Matilda(a take off of Waltzin Matilda), is found about halfway down the page.
Anyway, in short, really good three-part-male-harmony, who do a wide variety of styles and manage to be incredibly funny whilst doing it. And for a laugh, they can't be beaten live.

Tenacious D: Hollywood actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, playing acoustic guitars and trying to be funny.
Gets old. Only any good because Dave Grohl drummed on their album.

Kyle is far from being a Hollywood actor, though. He's only acted in the Tenacious D television show, which is far better than any of the music they've produced. Well, aside from "Tribute", that song is killer.
Also, there is a Tenacious D movie in the works that is being co-written with Liam Lynch, so that should be interesting.
Corky And The Juice Pigs and the Arrogant Worms are both sometimes-funny Canadian troupes. CATP did sketch comedy as well, and Sean Cullen (who was a member of the band) went on to do fairly well in the Canadian comedy circuit, scoring his own show on the CBC. Truth be told, none of them are as hilarious as they try to be most of the time. The Arrogant Worms are particularly un-noteworthy.

Any movie like that would suck. The only decent movie Jack Black was ever in was School of Rock, and Kyle looks like he's 55.

Stongbah, go and rent Hi-Fidelity. Then go and rent Run Ronnie Run. THEN you can tell me how horrible Jack Black is. He has small parts in each, but they're still two of the most hilarious things I have ever seen. I am also going to assume that you've never watched an episode of the Tenacious D HBO series, since you mentioned nothing about his television career. Again, hilarious. And why does Kyle looking older matter at all? That's so incredibly petty. Some people lose their hair. Deal with it.
And while I may be making a lot of assumptions here, I'm also going to assume that you've never experienced Lynch's "Sifl And Olly" series, or his "Flies" shorts, or any of his other self-made comedy shorts. The man is apretty good writer with a great sense of humour (and a pretty hilarious comedic rock album under his belt).
