Man on transmission tower disrupts traffic. A man climbed
a 345,000?volt transmission tower in southwest Houston, TX, on Monday, June 14,
forcing police to close a nearby toll way. CenterPoint Energy officials cut electricity to
that tower, but said nearby homes and businesses were not affected. Police have tried to
convince the man to come down. Officers are using a bullhorn to communicate with him, but
the man has not said anything. Police feared the man was going to jump for a while due to the
way he was standing. He has also spent part of the time sitting down. The unidentified man has
pulled his shirt over his face so he would not be recognized.

Mist, without meaning to be rude, please stop posting so many new topics. You've done at least one a day since you got back by my count.
As I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I realised that it could do with a lick of paint.

I don't really have a problem with it, they're all topics worth posting in. cool.gif

Anyway, this guy prolly just had one of those crazy bored ideas like when you decide to cover your walls with post-it notes or try drinking milk with curry powder. I get a primal urge to jump off the side of bridges or throw stuff every time I walk over them and I can't even swim. blink.gif

When I'm cruising down the freeway at 100km/h I always have this feeling that I should just drive up agains the concrete pylon/wall thing to see if theres sparks. I also always wonder if I could make a drop whenever I'm on a balcony. Though what worries me the most is when I'm walking on the side of the road and a truck goes past, I always wonder what it would feel like to stand in front of it. To be honest, I scare me.

Call me a lateral thinker, but if he's pulled his shirt over his head then why don't they climb up and handcuff him and then jump off the building like in Leathal Weapon.

Where's Martin Riggs when you want him!

Yahtz, I thought that was the point of a forum. blink.gif

If you guys don't want me to, I won't begin as many threads, though.

Supes: You're a lateral thinker, and I'm not acquainted with actors, so I shall go look up Martin Riggs, now.

Edit: I feel incredibly silly for having looked him up thinking he was an actor. sad.gif

I'm happy for you to post away Mist. It's highly entertaining.

And please forgive me for this but it's true that I did:

Completely understandable. I've never seen the Lethal Weapon movies, so I thought that, perhaps, Riggs was a third lead besides Gibson and Glover. I wondered why he wasn't in any of the previews. laugh.gif

Sorry Mist, I must apologise for Yahtzee, he's pretty easy going usually. Perhaps he's working too hard in Oz and needs to chill like the rest of us!

Aw, thanks, Mudda. It's ok. I spam quite a lot, and I think Yahtz is simply trying to maintain order in this odd little world.

In other news, I can hardly type right now... In fact, I'm having trouble focusing enough to do anything since, as soon as I try, I begin to feel on the verge of becoming physically ill. Today was insane at work. wacko.gif I may elaborate later if you're unlucky. tongue.gif

Now that can't be true! We don't let anyone work to hard in Australia. That's almost considered un-Australian.

Well at least we must perpetuate the idea that we feel that way as it seems to encouage people to come and visit us on a regular basis. We're so far from everyone that we need to use all the tricks we can to get you all to pop in every now and then. biggrin.gif

But then again I try to do as little as possible at work, when I can get away with it.

While on the subject of work, the reason I was so out of it the other day was because I was way beyond overloaded with information at work. Essentially, I got the history of SCSI, IDE, DNS, BIND, firewalls, proxies, VPNS their pet names for things, their acronyms for things, their pet names for acronyms for petnames, etc. as well as the present state of technology, the applications at work, the things you're taught in school, tips and secrets of the technology, Microsoft's stupidity (one of the easier subjects laugh.gif), ways of cracking, and the various theories on how things are looking to go in the future shoved into my head. dry.gif Some other things too, but I'm not able to recall them at the moment.

First off, it's not one of my usual jobs. A couple friends of mine, who happen to be heads of cyber security and network administration for a large organization, asked if I wanted to go to work with them. I said, "Yes" because it was an excellent opportunity to learn things, and they pay me if I'll do some of the more menial tasks like inventory or summat, but the main payment is the knowledge.

Security had me ruffled before I even got to the area where they work. Vehicle checks, baggage checks, clearance checks, and personal escorts galore. When I got there, one after the other of them took me aside and tried to make my head explode by giving me the equivalent of years of study in the course of an hour and much faster than my mind could process things. I enjoyed it immensely, but I found myself staring at them blankly, and I had to make an effort to change my facial expression every once in a while. I also made an effort to try to grasp some of the information flowing all around me and speed-process it in an attempt to make some intelligent remark about it. "Oh, so that's like _______". "So that's why ________." Things like that. By the end of the day, I felt on the verge of being physically ill and mentally exhausted. Luckily, the next day they gave me a reprieve because there were some more pressing issues to take care of. Anywho, they are giving me an opportunity to earn a full-ride scholarship and a job while in college and possibly after. happy.gif Sorry for the ramble. I'm kind of excited.
