Nothing really surprising here, but again, they're freely talking about an "ultimate boxed set" of the Star Wars movies, and the Blu-Ray release.

My prediction? They'll take the two box sets released this past year and put them into one box and that'll be the DVD release. The Blu-Ray release will just be the HD transfers that were shown on cable some years ago.

Then a few years later, they'll give us the long-rumored "still more special" modified HD versions on Blu-Ray that have new changes (the only known one of which we have confirmed is the CGI Yoda replacement in Episode I).

"Paid streaming version"? Wouldn't Lucas LOVE to charge us every time he has us watch Star Wars (think Star Wars via "Steam"), and every time he wished there'd be a "mandatory critical update" installed.

There's never been a greater time to be a fan(boy)! ;P

As for the "vintage" extras, would Lucas REALLY knuckle under and include documentaries where he gives credit to other people for his work, admits he made it up as he went along, and talks about how unimportant special effects are compared to the imagination, deep characters and believable storytelling? Somehow I wonder how he could resist editing out these now "embarrassing" moments, from a simpler time when he hadn't planned out the prequels yet.

But then it would be "cheap" way for Lucas to profit by doing this, while it would tarnish his status as infallible deity in the minds of the fanboy community, wouldn't it?

But then Steve Sansweet is a fan and he wants what the average fan wants, even though he's now a PR hire. Lucas has the ultimate say over anything this guy spins out, sadly.

The LAST thing Lucas would give us is an actual high def quality transfer of the OOT, which is all any real SW fan wants to see, at the end of the day.

Too cynical? Time will tell...

It was pretty heavily insinuated that this release is going to happen and that it will most likely be tied to the beginning of the live action series.

Is that still happening? I haven't read anything about it for a long time.
