What makes the Tall Man so cool?

Spoilers for TN and 6DAS, yeah.
Was thinking...as well as the way he looks (though I still prefer to think of him with a blank face, rather than a mask), and the great music he has, it's because he is fairly passive seeming, generally unconcerned with what's going on and then you unexpectedly die.
I mean...in TN, there's a few instances of him ignoring everyone...he wanders away from you in the Hotel, IIRC, he breaks into a guy's house and plays his harpsichord, on the ship, he ignores the slave until he runs for it.
He also doesn't muck about with being threatining. He teleported after the slave a few times, but didn't otherwise do much until suddenly implaling him. In 6DAS, when picking off clones, he suddenly appears and suddenly disappears, you don't otherwise see him.
What do other people think?

Aye, his subtlety was his best feat... his worst was his blade. Yes, yes, I know, Chzo stuff, distorted and all, but come on - it's simply not a practical weapon, no fun to look at when in action. A metal umbrella. That always made me think of him as a dork.

Pop quiz, hotshot. Garry Kasparov is coming to kill you, and the only way to change his mind is for you to beat him at chess. What do you do, what do you do?

Certainly not for swinging. Definatly a stabbing weapon. I mean, he can ripp someone's guts out with his bare hands. I always thought of it as a giant blending blade.
1. stab
2. twist and turn
3. pull
4. repeat
It's kind of like a Lochaber axe or a monk spade but with four blades mounted on one pole.
Not the kind of weapon I could use during a zombie pandemic.

Hmmm...possibly it's not really a weapon, it's an affectation, part of his costume.
I mean, it's not like he needs a weapon, or he really does any fighting...he could unexpectedly teleport up to you and kill you with more or less anything he happened to be carrying, or with his bare hands.

His gag ball?
I mean that the spikes on his weapon point the opposite way that they do in the game.
(Also, gag ball? Is that the first thing you think of as a weapon when you see that image? Wow.)

You know why I found him scary? Because at no point does he tie you up solely to spout exposition before your 'inevitable' death. Oh wait, yes he does, but not in a cackling Bond-villain way; more in a "You're definitely going to die and have just weed yourself a little bit because this game is creeping you the fuck out" sort of way.
Anyway. My point is, he fits so well into the pervasive macabre atmosphere. You're constantly kept guessing, and I honestly believed that he could snap my puny neck at any point.
