I think I'm enjoying this.

FUCK THIS! I'm gonna go and play Blood.

And fuck Chris. I'll imagine his personality the way I want.

Na, I'll just imagine him as a cockney weeboo with multiple personality disorder wielding a horse dong.

So what was the problem then?

The problem was this shitty laptop, apparently. But I'm still not completely sure what was the problem.

The first time I was able to get the maps working, was to us the setup option through the DosBox and opened the maps the same way I open up user made maps. This was rather difficult and there were some minor graphical bugs and some textures were from Duke3D.
However, I accidently got it working by extracting the zip file in the Eduke32 folder and evil_install.exe worked this time.

I still don't know the exact nature of the problem, but it was apparently due to a mistake I made the first time I attampted to get it working. The guys as Gog forum told me that it was because of Dosbox. Others said it was because I did not create a seperate directory for AOE.

And then I assume somebody else told you it was because of the goblins?

Don't be entirely surprised if you come home one day to find it magically doesn't work again, if my experience with DOSBox is anything to go by.

Other than the shit frame count and the crashes and my lack of programming knowledge, DosBox is probably the only option you have with some old programs, which makes it even more frustrating to work with.

Nope, VDMSound works better and if the game in question is supported by ScummVM then go for that.

ScummVM only runs on games built for ScummVM though - It's not a DOSbox replacement per say.

Although considering you can run Monkkey Island 1, 2 and 3, Manic Mansion and Broken Sword 1 and 2 on it, you don't really need anything else.

Last time I tried, Albion worked well with VDMSound but was very slow on DOSbox.

Yes I know ScummVM doesn't support everything which is why I said "If the game is supported..." but I also figured that 99% of the games from the days of yore that are actually worth replaying are LucasArts adventure games => ScummVM FTW.
