It seems that Duke Nukem Forever's developer is shutting down.

I'm a little surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be. Looking back on it, they never really had a sound business model. I'm no industry expert but here's a tip for anyone interested: Developing is important, but it helps to sell products at some point.

From the individual employee's point of view, the business model was very sound. They never intended to release, but kept the hype alive. The effect: More than a decade of payment for doing almost nothing.

Sir, no thread needs fap material. Also, the picture that you linked to is not fap material outside of 4Chan. It is not amusing, and while isn't pornography, should be at least tagged as NSFW. *tags*

Who didn't see this announcement coming ten years ago?

Saw this coming when Prey was released. Although, didn't 3drealms hand over their projects to some other developers?

They gave Prey to some other developers because - again - they weren't able to get things done.

I like how Take Two is suing 3D Realms now for thirteen years of nothing. Honestly though, if somebody tells me that he'll deliver something 'when it's done' for a few years and all I'll have to do is be patient and keep paying... well, I guess I'd have had it coming.

Well, forgive me. I'll try to be more politically correct next time.

I've been a BIG fan of their games, grew up playing Duke3D. I find this extremely depressing, or I'm just a dork.

In all fair optimism, Fallout 3 was announced many years before it eventually happened.
In all fair pessimism so was Alien -v- Predator...

I"ve been playing Duke since the ancient days back when it looked like an IT crowd DVD menu. So I"m turning blue in the face still holding out for this. SOmeone must complete the work.
