First off, this movie was waaay better than that awful X-Men: The Last Stand!

Secondly, of course there were some things that didn't coincide with the comics, but hey, this movie was really, pretty good!

Third, this was probably Hugh Jackman's best portrayal of Wolverine, even though everything wasn't canon, it was still a fun film to see. All supporting characters were done very well in this film, and the bridging from this film to the first X-Men film wasn't that bad. Still some minor details that the lady and I pointed out after the film regarding continuity, but overall a good film.

Oh, and stay after credits. happy.gif It's kinda messed up, but still...

Edit: I went in not expecting much from this film because the third X-Men movie was cruddy. I was pleasantly surprised however.

X-Men: The Last Stand was Soooo terrible
(Thank You very much Brett Ratner)
that anything put up against it will be brilliant.

Marvel seems to have issues with their third films
because Spiderman 3 was AWFUL aswell

That being said
I agree that Wolverine was very well done
I wasn't at all surprised, Wolvy is easily one of the best X-men
and really the only one most people care about.

It was funny, exciting but most of all entertaining
Yes Gavin Hood took some liberties that deviate form
the original story but it wasn't ridiculous

Its moments like this that i wish we could have a Wolverine: Origin Pt 2
But i will settle for an X-Men 4 only if it is directed by Hood
or bring back the guy who did the first two movies,
Yeah Bryan Singer . . . that would be awesome

If they do the Magneto movie like this,
only good will come to Marvel

I just saw this. It was terrible. What a horrible collection of action-movie cliches. Brothers fighting, heroic motivation derived from the death of a loved one, hero drawn unwittingly into a group of villains, a character walking in slow motion away with an explosion going off behind him (who would do that? I for one would want to watch the explosion), deus ex machina appearances of characters at key moments in action scenes, guys looking up and yelling into craning cameras (I remember 5 of these), a bad guy turing his back on a superior before surprising him with sudden murder ... oh gosh I lost count. There are at least ten more I can think of right now but maybe I'll just open the floor.

Wolverine: biggest stinkiest boatload of ass or just another stupid action film?

You mean this isn't some kind of deep character building that acts as an aside to the three xmen movies and will eventually be part of a meshwork of origins errata that displays the common threads that lead the divergent mutants down the paths to the Xavier school and becoming Xmen?

Cuz, ya know, otherwise I really don't see any point in doing an origin movie. It would be like doing a batman begins origins, and then just having batman punch people for two hours. Wolverines origins were pretty well displayed in X2. The fact that they milked the most popular xmens hairy canadian teet dry would almost be excused if there was absolutely anything new to say about him, or if he actually needed people to better understand him.

Wolverine, in my opinion, is not in the least bit deserving of an origins story, and that's made quite clear by the number of characters they cram into it. I'm not saying a good cast is a bad thing, but the movie was clearly focused on who wolverine would punch or skewer, and not on who he was.

What I'd like to see is a story based upon Magneto and Professor X. Showing them building their different teams and persuing their different goals throughout their lifespans would have been immensely interesting. More like a game of chess than a game of rock em sock em robots. I was fooled into watching a movie just to go see Venom, and I learned my lesson.

Also, making him like, 200 years old or some shit? That's a real dickhead move and of course it's never explored as to how outliving, ya know, everyone, would effect a person. Why don't they just go for the gold and say that Wolverine was a Roman gladiator. A guy walking around for 200 years clawing folks and calling them bub is about as plausible as a guy doing it for 2000.

Yes, these! laugh.gif

You see, although this film had a lot of silly things in it, for some reason I enjoyed it. Given the fact that I've not been in a theater since the release of 300, and I seldom watch anything at all, I did point these things out and giggled at them during the film.

I understand your complaints Civ, by all means these problems do exist in the film. Even the things that JM pointed out are feasible, but I still had fun watching the silliness. I can't take the film seriously, just as I couldn't take Spider-Man 3 seriously. I laughed most of it off, but what was done to Venom was just wrong. Wolverine as a kid yelling at the camera the first time his claws come out was just wrong! (But I had a good laugh out of it, if only to mock the film)

I see "Origins" as a gateway film for other characters if 20th Century Fox wishes to keep milking this franchise. Deadpool is getting his own film now... don't know if that's going to be good or bad, but it's still fun for the fans and the fans alone. (and it's fun for me because I love ripping movies apart, even if they are entertaining for the time)

Wait, what? As a kid? I thought it was established as canon that they picked him up when he was already grown up, made those experiments and only then fitted those metal parts to his grown up skeleton (doing it before would be a waste, c'mon). Cripes, didn't they have a scene for just that in the first or second movie or so?

Oh, and a movie about Deadpool... heh. Heheh. Heheheh. Yeaahh... biggrin.gif

No, they ade the claws biological, not a mechanical construct, but later the lab guys graft adamantium onto his skeleton (and thereby his claws). It's like the biological webslingers in Spoiderman; it's only a minor tweak, and it's ok.

About five instances in this movie of two guys running at each other before striking. It's like a high-power kung-fu film. And at least one case of a character appearing out of nowhere, saving the day, then with his back to the guy he just saved, he looks over his shoulder as the camera swoops in for a close-up and he says:

(no one who saw the movie answer! Let's see if it's so obvious that everyone else can guess!)

I didn't care for this film at all. There were too many shots of wolverine and his brother screaming and unleashing the animal within moment. The scene where wolverine frees a bunch of jailed mutants was very embarrising to witness, as he ran by the cells, claws extended and arms spread, screaming and making this stupid face.

I find that suspending disbelief is getting more difficult as film directors are increasing pushing the line on what is acceptable stunt work and what is stupid fucking bullshit. I also don't like the drawn out battle with dead pool. I just didn't believe it was happening. Fighting on top of a nuclear silo, fuck that shit, or when gambit some how stops 10 thousand tons of contrete from falling on wolvering by spliting it in half with his staff? I'm not sure how he pulled that off, the editing was dodgy in that scene so it was hard to tell.

Diamond skin mutant girl was in the preview, turns out that shot was her only notable scene, her power sucks too, diamond skin?

If you stayed long enough for the credits to roll, you'll see a scene where dead pool's decapitated head opens it's eyes and says "hello".

Aw c'mon Jordan, don't give it away! laugh.gif Besides, according to some info somewhere, that last scene could have been one of three possible endings.

1) The one you just stated: Living decapitated head.
2) Wolverine traveling to Japan (I think)
3) The real Deadpool shows up and sees his decapitated copy and says some witty one-liner. Thus allowing for his own movie to come about.

That's what I'm looking forward to seeing too. They shouldn't treat Deadpool as another Blade or Wolverine. And the film is already ruined if they think one-liners or over-the-top-action will do the trick.

Oh Lord Aquaman say it ain't so
I can't believe how many people are poo pooing on this movie

it wasn't TERRIBLE. . . yes it was cheesy
but really when you think about it, you have seen worse movies

and you have seen worse comic book movies
so how about taking a step back

perhaps go see Star Trek or T4 and get happy
then give Wolvy another chance please for me ya'll sad.gif

Edit: Oh man i would have loved to see the Deadpool alternate ending
i saw the one where he is 'drinking to remember' . . .

its been four movies of goddamn wolverine, what are they aiming for, to outpace Starwars? They killed off just about every non wolverine character in X3 just to show how awesomely awesome he is at drawing in twelve year old morons, and then they give him another show. I'm waiting for Wolverine in the Future and then Wolverine Across The Eighth Dimension. It's blatant pandering to the lowest common denominator. Cyclops and Professor X kept the Xmen together and made them a viable force, and what do they get in return from the movies? Beaten up by a girl and killed off. And Professor X gets bitched at for Wolverine for containing Jean's powers, only he was completely justified in doing so, so the plot thread is just ighored once he dies. Did I mention that I hate X3?
