man-child abuse sounds even worse than regular child abuse. man-prostitute-child abuse sounds worse still, and man-prostitute-squid-child abuse sounds like something that should be punishable by banishment to japan.

(sigh)
JM, I was with you

right up until the "man-prostitute-squid-child abuse"
not sure where you were going with that but then again i rarely ever do

The mother, though her intentions maybe 'good'
needs to relax

her son probably doesn't even want sex . . .
yeah, that is altogether possible

This is kind of what I was (hoping) to lead on to in my original post. These man-children are perpetual six year olds. I'm sure they have basic sexual urges, but I don't know if they really want to do anything about it.

They're most probably in a state of continual sexual curiosity, like "self exploration" and "pee-pee touching"... non-sense like that. I don't think they'd even know how to react to seeing pornography or even a nude woman in front of them. I don't know if the mental connections are properly established in their limited and underdeveloped brains to assert a certain behavior or stimulus possible for masturbation, procreation, or a jolly-good romp.

Whoa, whoa, you're getting something mixed up here. Sex drive has barely nothing to do with mental connections or age or whatever - it's an instinct, awakens when you're old enough, pumps testosterone into your blood till you start thinking about humping a train wagon just to get some release.

We ordinary people keep it under control with our brains - and that's where the problem really lies. I don't know much about Down's Syndrome, but I used to work with some retarded people who never got past the mental age of five. Cute people, but there were some in that group who couldn't be left alone for a mere five seconds - you went out to get a smoke, and came back in to find them having an orgy.

Might be the very same problem for the mum in question here. Get something steady, someone who actually wants to keep his needs satisfied - et voilá, suddenly you got three times more spare time to do the naughty yourself, but that's just me fishing around for ulterior motives there.

Not to mention, Vesuvius, we ought to give her the benefit of the doubt. We can say what we've heard about Down's Syndrome from the media or in school and stuff, but she's got four of these suckers at home--she probably has gotten enough information to understand.

Also, I meant suckers as in the general term for a kind of thing, like how your pal has one of these suckers at home and can't watch the game without it, not the kind that Elmer Fudd is when he's tricked into running of the cliff--nor the kind that he'll turn into soon after.

When I realized someone could misread it offensively, I considered switching it to babies.

Decided against.

I just want to mention that the "mental age" of a person with Down's Syndrome is a lot more varied and complex than just saying, "a 5-year old in a man's body." It's totally not like that at all.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

I know, but it's more convenient to leave it at that. They do know what's going on and how to get by, it's just that their reasoning and curiosity resembles that of an unlearned five year old for most of the time.

Well this lady clearly wants to raise the public image of Downs victims. She's adopted several beacuse she feels comfortable with them, and she wants to treat them like they were not handicapped becaue she wants to change their public status. She figures along with this comes sexual activity, and she wants us to be cool with that.
