QUOTE (JM)
Maybe we should do a "what we learned on the forums" section and have people submit what they've learned here, I'm sure we'll get some pretty cracked out asnwers!

Thought this was a good idea, so might as well get the ball rolling:

I've learned quite early that pretending not to be a snarky arrogant elitist prick is difficult and should not be bothered with.

Well let's see what I've learned:

First of all, I've learned that to be a true forum member, you have to lose a debate to Civ.

I learned that with a good group of people, anything can be pretty amusing, from a massive anti-fascist troll assault to a thread posted by a mod asking people not to be angry at eachother.

I learned that illustrated stories do better than just text, but that no number of boobies can make for a good read.

I learned that it's silly to assume that wolves do not follow a religion. No, scratch that one.

I'm sure I'll remember more.

I've learned that Star Wars related hate comes a few times a year. It's always entertaining when it surfaces and makes for some good, creative conversation. However it's easy to turn a simple thread/topic into fanfiction that isn't going to change anything in the future.

I have learned that if you stay on the same forum long enough, folks will go from thinking you're a pain in the ass for always disagreeing with them to respecting you like some kind of elder statesman. I learned that one from JM Hffmarn. I guess it helps if the forum admin agrees with you enough to make your contrary ass a Head Moderator, earning you much-needed street cred. It probably helps too if you gang up to pick on the occasional troll together.

I also learned that other religions had Virgin Birth mythologies in them. Though I thought I had a lot of religious book learnin' in me, I had never read that before. I think thanks go to Spoon for that one.

Hmmm
Ive learned that
You cant always win an argument against some people like JM
but especially barend (he is all powerful)

That a song about about an a sandwich written to the tune
"Damn I Wish I was Your Lover" by an elf can be the highlight to any day.

That it is okay to love and hate Star Wars and Georgie Boy

The SW Nitpicks are GENIUS

That people are often accepting of the nicknames i give them
case in point Gobbler (aka Gobbly)

Ive made some pretty good friends
and overall people don't mind my fragmented
sometimes haiku-like writing style

But most importantly I never would have
heard of Yahtzee or ZP if it wasn't for this site
so thank you, crying.gif
Thank you all

you might think so, but that actually came from the time you tagged that moving freight train with a limerick about Barend. In thie hizzy.

I declare this thread back in business as part of my push to keep the forum history thread going.
