Really Surprised Shrek 2

Yeah, I saw the dreamworks film today and wasn't expecting much. Usually when folks rave so much about a film I haven't seen, it's just easier to think I know better and they've wasted their time. (mindless herds.)
Not having seen the original, I gambled and saw the Shrek movie. I was really surprised. It was fun, colorful, pretty realistic (yeah, it was actually. short of gollum but different) but most important- Funny. the targets were all over the board, and they were riddled. Naturally I enjoyed the numerous obvious stabs at disney, but the humor was subtle as well. 15 minutes longer than most animated features, but it was well paced and stayed interesting. I never thought I'd express this, but I really liked it.

I havnt seen the sequel, I'll wait for the video. Even I have to admit that the first Shrek was really good.

I loved the original Shrek - I still can't help laughing whenever I think of the singing puppets or the 'Muffin Man' interrogation scene. I'd like to see the sequel, but unfortunately I and all my friends are busy revising for exams at the moment.

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

My nephews and sister visited last monday with the Shrek dvd in hand. Didn't have time to view it, so maybe I'll check it out now that I've enjoyed the sequel.
"Even Better than the first!"
a good friend and I overheard an in-country medical missionary (oncologist actually) reply a decade ago to the question: "have you seen Home Alone II?" so we always jokingly respond to matters of follow-up with that line
(a la talk of LOTR: "Behold!!")

I will always picture Garfield as having the old cartoon voice. The new one does not work at all, and I refuse to accept it.
I hope the movie bombs, but you know that it won't. It will be one of those truly awful movies that makes records at the box office. You know, like Men In Black, Titanic, Independence Day (although that movie did have some of the best alien designs I've ever seen outside of Giger's work), etc. Jon is being played by Breckin Meyer, who does the voice of Joseph (the teenaged one, not the young one) on King Of The Hill. Funny thing, Dr. Liz (Garfield's vet that Jon has the hots for) is played by Jennifer Love Hewitt. This movie SPELLS disaster.
For proof of it's destiny for terrible-ness, one can note that Jimmy Kimmel is also doing a voice. Upon reading this, I felt like throwing up.
Oh, and the director is also making the Thunderbirds movie, set for release later this year.

Thunderbirds movie!? The marrionette tv show was boring enough! Everytime it'd come on, what'd I do? Change the channel!!
I heard a lot of people hated the Garfield movie, but they only found that out by seeing it, so its probably gonna do good at the box office...lol

The movie won't be puppets. It will be a shoddy live-action semi-adaptation of the show. More or less, it will be a crappy sci-fi/action title with the show's licenses and names slapped on it.

Shrek had its moments, but overall I didn't find it as enthralling as most people. It just lacks a certain punch that I was hoping for. Of course, at that time I still had faith in Mike Meyers, so that might've attributed to the letdown. Lord knows I lost faith in Eddie Murphy years ago, but you know...
