Always did want to play the first two.

Anyone get these working nicely on XP?

I don't see why he'd review thief out of all games but if Yahtzee says its good then I guess I should go and buy it now right? right?

Hes talked about how great these games are for years, and if I could go out and buy 1 and 2 I would since I adore Stealth games, but I don't want to buy them off ebay and learn you can't play them on a XP.

I legitimately own a copy of Thief, which says a lot about its age, I think. Never played it through, the unnecessary storyline and zombie shenanigans irritated me too much. I could have lived with a mere thieving game that provided some interesting levels and objectives.

I haven't played any newer stealth games, so I can't be sure about my standards in this context, but the use of positional sound effects and the general atmosphere were really amazing.

It does work on XP just fine (downloaded and installed it yesterday), but you'll need to tweak it a bit, especially if you have a dual-core processor. Here's a few pointers with that: http://www.thief-the...hyperthreading/

Gave it a try just now (I'm at the Hammerite mine/prison place with the zombies, it's frustrating), not really my thing, but I sort of see why so many people liked it.

Ah, right. Add the term "Hammerite" to my list of shenanigans occurring in Thief.

For the Builder!

My original copy of The Dark Project is one of those games I own that are on my "Objects I Vainly Hope Will Be Worth Something One Day" lists. My Looking Glass games will make me super rich, you taffers.

David, if you ever reach the Cathedral level - that place scared the brown stuff out of me.

Gobbler, what's your problem with the storyline?

Zombies are scary. Hammerites makes me laugh. Mix them together in a stealth game and you get a very irritated Gobbler.

Ok, what the hell is up with all the zombies and toxic-spewing lizards? I thought I was playing a stealth-em-up, not a Tomb Raider-clone.

Sod this shit, I'll try the second one, that's supposed to have less monsters and more stealing, right?

Good to see you're willing to give the games a chance.

The second one is indeed better but I guess my problem is with the genre. I quickly got bored of it, but there were definitely some clever ideas.

I've heard the series is pretty good and alot of people praise it for being a good stealth game.
It sounds much more convincing than Assasin Creed or similar cyberpunk+medival games these days.

I'll add this to my list of 'cyberpunk games I must try out someday'. I've already bought Quake 1, by the way.

Steam couldn't be assed to put on the first two, though they do have deadly shadows.

Edit: Oh, yeah, this is for Yahtzee. About action games, I actually liked SiN...well, just the action and besides they put on too much make up on the sequal that no one cared about it anymore and the jokes were unfunnier than the cultural references in the previous game. Thought you might want to know that action doesn't pay all the time.

Just to clarify, you mean cyberpunk because of the future-setting in the real world, right?

Electricity + Faggy dresses + "goverment is bad/weak" = Cyberpunk < lesbians
