Scary. And... you visit theforce.net occasionally? You're a brave soul. I've heard too many stories about the large numbers of idiots who post on that forum - so I wouldn't want to go anywhere near that place. Is it is bad as everyone says?

It wasn't as bad as I feared. I probably found one of the more sane ones. There were a few intelligent sounding people on the forum - but there were a couple of complete wankers. Here's one -

Im in favor of Lucas changing/adding new scenes to the OT.
Besides fixing the special effects such as the light sabers, I would like to see:


ANH:

1) Palpatine disbanding the senate.

2) Bail Organa on Alderaan right before its destruction.

3) Add a scene of Yoda on Dagobah when Alderaan is destroyed showing the same reaction that Ben feels after Alderaan's destruction.

4) More aliens in the cantina.

5) I don't care if Greedo shoots first or not. Just make the scene look better.


TESB:

1) Replace the original face and voice of Palpatine with Ian McDiarmid's with new dialog.

2) Make Yoda CG.


ROTJ:

1) Make the rancor CG.

2) Make Yoda CG.

3) Make Jabba CG.

4) More aliens in Jabba's palace.

5) Add Naboo to the end celebration.

Shoot that guy in the head. Okay, now let's have a look at two consecutive posts - one being a nice post by an intelligent person and the second one being posted by a... well, you can call him what you will, I guess...

Post 1 - by a nice intelligent person

Lucas thinks he is GOD when it comes to Star Wars. Yes, he did start it all, but Star Wars is now way bigger than anything that could be associated with just one man. In an interview, I heard Lucas say that he would continue to change, or add to, the CT until he was satisfied with the films. "Satisfied with the films"? That sounds like there was something wrong with the CT. Lucas may be the creator of the films, but I don't think he is a Star Wars fan. I think he is just into it to make money. In fact, I get the feeling that he feels "held back" by the films, that he can't get out of their shadows, and the only way he could win is to keep altering the films until they become trivialized.

When I was 9 years old, seeing Star Wars ANH for the first time, I thought I was seeing the actual, completed film. But according to Lucas I was just seeing a rough draft. According to Lucas, I did not fall in love with the Greatest Film/Story Of All Times, but rather a second rate production. Perhaps Lucas feels that we were all just too immature and naive to see the obvious flaws in the film.

As fans, and believers in Star Wars, we need something we can "hang our hats on". We need to know that the Star Wars that we have all come to love will be there, unchanged, for future generations.

When the DVD comes out, that will be the second time that Lucas has altered "our" Star Wars. How many more times will we let him have?

When it comes to Star Wars, like it or not, Lucas is God. He has the final say-so about it all, so what he says goes. Seeing as he was about the only guy to have faith in creating Star Wars, I'd say that's a fair deal.

There have been alot of consiracy theories that Anakin is to be "cloned" and is that who becomes Vader. That way Anakin is never the real "evil'" that VAder becomes.

If that happens, I will walk up to the screen at whatever theatre I am at and proceed to take a shit right on stage.
