So, yeah, a guy who heard it from a guy told me that there has been a rather stunning development regarding this forums pet troll. Apparently, on the Fully Ramblomatic IRC channel, Deaucon, for no concievable reason, broke up a discussion about furries to point out that he was Snake Logan (I had suggested this theory rather quietely in various channels before, most notably in the sands of the internet thread). But, slightly more surprisingly, he also pointed out that he was Cobnat as well, who, coincidentally, also popped up in the sands thread to berate me.

The only reason no one figured this out was that it was insanely random and pointless. Most sensible (paradox alert) trolls only develop a new trollsona when they've been banned. Cobnat had at least two, maybe three active simultaneously arguing with the same people and getting horrendously schooled. For the full document you can click here.

As Tina Fey might say, (MMMMMMM Tina Fey), that is ri-donc-ulous.

I have to admit I highly suspected at one point that Snake and Cobnat were the same. But then I forgot all about it, because I didn't give a fuck.

Also, I am in total agreement with Chyld.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

Yeah I remember the Snake/Cobnat suspicions. The Deucaon thing hadn't occured to me though.

Mostly of course because, you know, who cares?

So, as it turned out three trolls were really one troll.

Hardly a stop the presses moment, is it?

I mean, they're all trolls. I'm equally annoyed if there's one or three or ten.

Well let's be fair. They weren't really trolls. Trolls just say stupid shit to see what sort of reaction they can get from gullible idiots. Hannibal was a troll, and he got a lot of us good, because we wanted to show how we weren't gullible idiots, and of course in doing that generally you come off looking like a gullible idiot. This guy wasn't technically "trolling," he's really just that guy. And he really did want to fit in and be a part of an online community, no doubt about that. There's something desperate about someone who thinks that folks who have never met him are actively worrying about his identity.

He did take an unnecessarily opposite stand on everything though, I think to show what a great debater he was, and this put him in some pretty bad spots. Suggesting that every American city was a hopeless war zone with assault-rifle-wielding goons wasn't even his low point; perhaps it was when he suggested that putting people into ethnic camps wasn't an act of genocide. Maybe that's not it either; maybe it was in suggesting that wolves might have language, and we should consider it possible, just because we couldn't prove conclusively otherwise. I don't know. JM is our Defense Against the Dark Arts expert; he should know.

I will never forget Homocest and (On the) Rag Training. I definitely preferred Cobnat, though.

Also, yeah, I didn't care enough, and maybe was too lazy to apply Occam's Razor to their behavior?

Civ - I don't know, any long term troll kind of has to believe their nonsense to propagate it as much as Hannibal did. I really think theres a guy still out there certain that he is the chosen savior of humanity from George Lucas' fascist hordes, and that the best way to spread the good word is over internet forums, and that anyone who denies the holy gospel is using one of a list of ridiculous debate rules. I do see how you get that Deuc isn't a classic troll. Maybe that should be part of my history article, creating some definitions and classes.

As for CobSnaDeu's low point, we have to include the time Cobby tried to enter the Piracy thread as a Russian/British Navy captain who then ordered his crew to become pirates, got arrested, shipwrecked, fled to the open ocean with no supplies, and then rescued by Slade who only let him die after I started treating his character as a cursed item.

Also, having Deepsycher's nickname of "The Cobnuts" stick was another sad occasion.

Personally though, I enjoy Snake's assertion that the US was wrong to go to war with Japan, or something, the simulation of an ignore list that like, the entire forum was on, and, oh yeah, how could you forget the Westernized/Warmonger dichotomy? (this thread, by the by, also featured the Iroquis Communalist defense, sim ignore list, a question that was clearly NOT directed at Civ, and the Ford Taurus form of government and the famous citations battle where an exasperated Snake Logan demanded that I cite my sources on "everything")

I'm going to have to support that last one.

I'm using that for the opening to a book sometime.

Also, you're STILL a dick for keeping me from killing off Cobs character sooner, and you totally deserved that plague of sea-locusts I sent on your ship.
