So I saw the trailer for I am Legend. When I saw the deer and the lions parading around NYC, I thought Holy Shoot that's pretty awesome. And then I did some reading up on it and it seems like just another 28 Days Later. It leads me to my soap box point devil.gif : The fantasy genre is infinite, yet Hollywood et al keeps pumping out the same movies.
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

I am Legend is a book about post apocalyptic vampires. This is exactly what hollywood should be doing.

I'd say 28 Days Later is another I am Legend. Since it's based on a book that has already had at least two (very loose) adaptations, it couldn't be called original, but it's the first version to be called by the book's name, so it needs to be made.

I, personally, am looking forward to it.

After seeing the trailer, I'm really looking forward to this movie. It looks refreshingly different (a zombie/vampire movie with a brain? No!).

That statement is ridiculous. Apparently, you've never sat and watched Romero's "Dead" films, or "Nosferatu".

Of course there are good zombie/vampire movies; I was referring to the endless dime-a-dozen horror messes that have been coming out in the last few years.

I'd like to see a straíght adeptation of 'the Running Man' made but too many Americans will cry if it happens.

Americans cry no matter what, believe me, I work in a customer service industry. I say fuck em (us) and make the movie.

Yes that was a come on.

Barend: I dunno if it can top that atrocious Arnie movie adaptation. So many terrible one-liners... The book was pretty cool, if I recall. I read it waaaay back in high school.

...Romero's "Dead" films...
...mmm...Romero. Yup, He is pretty much awesome. He started with making a movie on the cheap that is still a classic, thus inspiring amateur filmmakers to make movies on the cheap.

*MOVIE RELATED Spoiler*

Show of hands... Who thinks they'll kill mr. Smith?
Show of other hands... who will be more likely to attend if they kill mr. S.?
The previous film adaptations did follow the story and kill off the hero, right?

I am more than a little excited about this movie.

The whole trailer was very confusing
as someone that knows nothing about the book
or the subject all i see

is Will Smith very alone and very sad
driving a fast car he obviously didn't buy
in a New York where everyone is dead

do we really need a rehash of those
15 minutes of Independence Day where
Smith is all alone and talking crazy

or dropping one liner jokes
i just hope this film has
more to offer than this

Duct tape is like the force....

There's a lightside, a darkside

and it holds everything together

Thats my point its confusing, because its seems like a cool background to the same tired story.
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

I still love the movie that got made. It's a classic. In fact it's pretty much how our civilization is going.

But a straight up adeptation would be great.

I saw Legend and kinda liked it. I liked it enough to go and see it again this week, if I can escape the festivities.

It's not like the book or the previous movies, but then I had a hard time figuring out how Will Smith could pull of Vincent Price's Robert, or the one from the book, for that matter.

Anybody else see it?
