Necromancer!

QUOTE (Lord Aquaman @ Sep 11 2005, 11:30 AM)
Dark City (1998).

Plot:John Murdoch awakens alone in a strange hotel to find that he has lost his memory and is wanted for a series of brutal and bizarre murders. While trying to piece together his past, he stumbles upon a fiendish underworld controlled by a group of beings known as The Strangers who possess the ability to put people to sleep and alter the city and its inhabitants. Now Murdoch must find a way to stop them before they take control of his mind and destroy him.

Neat film. The Matrix ripped it off.

I was going to rent this, but I opted for Session 9 instead.

Session 9 is about a group of guys hired to rip all of the asbestos or something out of an old mental hospital, and the stress stars to get to them. Go rent it.
QUOTE (Theodor Herzl)
If you will it, it is no dream.

Dr. Strangelove is a great movie, but I think Kubrick's Barry Lyndon is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.

I rented Crash yesterday, and Ludacris kinda surprised me by being a pretty good actor. Brendan Fraser was good too. He counfounds me--one minute he's acting alongside Michael Caine in The Quiet American; the next he's mugging like a retard next to Bugs Bunny.

Rented Ghost In The Shell. Neat ride. You can see where the Matrix ripped it off in places.

The last movie I rented was The Phantom of the Opera. I had seen the musical, but was too far back to hear most of what anyone was singing, so the movie seemed to be a perfect solution. I watched it, watched it again, watched it again, watched it again, and somewhere in between reran individual scenes multiple times. It has had roughly the same effect on just about everyone I know who has watched it all the way through.

All right, there are two questions "it it good" could be asking. And both can probably share an answer.

Hmm... I'm actually of the opinion that there's subliminal mind control messages in the songs. Half of my dreams are now about that movie.

I thought it it good... it it very good. In fact, I think that was the last movie I rented...

I am obsessed to the point that I can tell what song my friend's soundtrack is playing on over the phone from one note. Mind control, I tell you.

I'm guessing borrowing from a friend's collection will count so here goes:

I just borrowed the Highlander TV Series: Season 1 box set. I've barely gotten though 6 episodes but I am enjoying it very much. Any othe Highlander fans out there?

I was given some Mystery Science Theater dvd's a while ago. I particularly enjoyed "Angel's Revenge". Its' about a white jumpsuit wearing school teacher who recruits a movie star, a model, a stunt driver, a karate teacher, a police officer and a 10th grader to go blow up a building with drugs in it, thereby destroying all the drugs in the world. The stunt driver and the karate teacher are conveniently black and asian, and the karate teacher chops people up with a samurai sword. They all hit people, but you can see that their blows aren't actually connecting. And then they go shoot the drug lords, and then the tenth grader gets shot and they call her "little Trish". Oh, forget it. You have to see it for yourself. Possibly the worst movie ever made.

I've been trying to rack up the Hitchcock's lately - Vertigo, Torn Curtain, Topaz. Rope is next on the list, and I'm hoping it's more interesting than Torn Curtain and Topaz.
