I just mentioned Keanu Reeves in another post and that just got me thinking...

Why does he keep cropping up, especially in serious roles?

Without meaning too much offence, the guy always comes across as a bit of a dopey teenager. Which is fine - I mean it was great in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure...

but since then, casting supervisors have told me that I have to suspend my disbelief and imagine that Keanu Reeves is a serious cop (Speed), Jonathan Harker (Dracula) and as if that wasn't enough, I have also been told to imagine that Keanu Reeves knows kung-fu (The Matrix).

But I can't do it! It's just too much to ask.

well at least people dont say you look like a "Mexican Keanu Reeves", which I
get all the time. Its insulting!

But anyways, I see what you're talking about. He gives new meaning to the
word "wooden".
His performances in Dracula and Much Ado about Nothing are so bad, that you cant
help but laugh out loud. He singled handedly distroyed all credibility in those movies.
I actually just finished watching "Something's Gotta Give" with Jack Nicholson, and Keanu Reeves has a small role as a doctor. I actually think he wasnt that bad in it. Odd as it may sound, he did a good job conveying a wooden doctor.

Yeah, I can imagine that people saying you look like a "Mexican Keanu Reeves" would be most unwelcome and more than a little annoying.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings about the guy, though. "Wooden" is exactly the impression I get of him as well.

I haven't seen Something's Gotta Give but I believe it that Keanu Reeves could do a good job of pulling off a "wooden doctor"... for sure. smile.gif

Just wondering... could anyone watch that part of the Matrix when he's fighting Hugo Weaving and he does that kung-fu pose with the 'serious expression' on his face...

... and not burst out laughing?
