Merc 2

Another very funny review. Although admittedly it hasn't helped me decide if I should get this game or not. The demo provided no context for me and without context, and an annoying timer, I felt I didn't get much experience. It was also a little on the difficult side. It seems like it can be plenty fun but do I want to put up with it? It's like burnout paradise...all the good stuff is pants-creamingly fun but the design failures make me leap out of my seat and literally scream at my TV...

Ok I'm rambling now. Over to you guys.

It looks like fun, and the original Mercenaries was okay, if requiring a bit more focus.
But regardless of how much I'd like to have the game, Fable 2, Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead have my money until new year.

On a slight tangent (they're pretty popular around here), what happened to all the adverts stapled onto the start and finish of each review? Not that I'm complaining, of course, considering last week's video was about 50/50 ads to review, which is a little annoying. Think Yahtzee put his foot down?

Apparently, YZ doesn't like Warhammer. Getting mixed messages, what with every mention he makes of space marines being paired off with some Ultramarines*.

*another slight tangent to be had: what chapter does YZ secretly collect? Ultramarines seem a bit too nice and strict for him. Space Wolves? Or is he a Chaos devotee?

Blood Angels or World Eaters is my guess, Chyld.

I don't know, I don't get the "flawed and bloodthirsty but still noble hero" vibe, nor a "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" one.

Actually, I can see him running a Thousand Sons army and oh my god I'm a rampaging nerdy fanboy.

"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."

You'd think that the Invision Power Board team would have corrected that nuisance after six years of developing...

I don't think it's an invision problem. A lot of websites seem to suffer issues when you put in a long string of unbroken text. Perhaps a browser rendering engine issue.

The browser renders it just fine, it's the duty of the webdesigner to direct it accordingly. Sometimes you won't need it, most times you will, especially in tables.

Well I stand corrected.

And to think I actually did some web design in uni >_< goes to show how much I remembered...

Funny thing is, if you look at the source code of 'tis 'ere site, you may find that they actually know how to implement said feature, but they didn't see it through for all relevant tables. Some web designer probably got fed up with meeting all the requirements to make it work nicely, I guess.

Well we're on a new page now so does anybody have any more thoughts about Mercenaries 2?
Just thought I'd try and get back to that original topic after that incredible tangent.
