Good idea.

I am seriously considering this game because the concept seems so much fun. The sort of fun where you would look over minor flaws because of the smile it brings to your face.

Although I've heard it's glitch city...

I'm thinking of maybe renting it as I can't afford to buy it. It does look entertaining.
And rental period might be just the amount of time it takes for me to get bored of it.

Just popping in to say that I deleted that retarded post for the sake of those who didn't catch the first page, and would like to not have their browsing ruined by the despicable horizontal scroll bar.

Yeah, I wish I hadn't bought this game. I got the PC version, and there hasn't been such a shameless console port since Pirates of the Caribbean (in which they couldnt even be bothered to change the "Press Start", etc on the menus and in-game). I'd save my money for Far Cry 2 if I had known it was going to be like this.

Well we're on a new page now so does anybody have any more thoughts about Mercenaries 2?
Just thought I'd try and get back to that original topic after that incredible tangent.

I have to be honest: the idea that game developers believe they can pass this bud-ridden garbage off as a "game" is at least insulting. Please; I've played roguelikes for the NES that are less glitched and buggy. I would go so far as to say the packaging this game comes in is wasted plastic.

I'm very cynical about the gaming industry these days; people just have no standards. I have friends and acquaintances who would actually buy this game despite the complete lack of effort put into it by its constituents because they like what they read on the back of the box. You wouldn't see a movie without checking it out with people who've seen it or reading a review; why would you just pick up a game in stores because the back of the box says it has "25 cool vehicles" to drive around?

The problem with the industry today is that no one, not even those who play the games, are taking them seriously enough for developers to start paying attention. Mercenaries 2 is a huge step backward, but it doesn't matter, because you lot are all going to purchase it anyway ignoring the existence of better games in this genre that probably do in fact deserve your money. That bothers me a bit.

The thing is, Games Development is incredibly costly, and you gotta make money or else people are gonna lose their jobs. Sometimes you just can't put out something brilliant or well polished.
And as obvious as it is, it bears saying. The more there is in your game the more glitchy it's gonna be. Mercenaries 2 has obviously crammed loads of random crap in here, so it's gonna have problems. The bigger a game is, the more there is to test. The more there is to test, the more there is to fix. And there are deadlines to meet.

Pardon me for being just a bit too general. I just meant the gaming community (if you can even call it that).

It is possible to have a great game that has less features, and is even preferable in most cases. I mean, would you rather play a terribly buggy version of something like Morrowind, or a great, unfrilled game such as Meteos? To me the answer is pretty obvious.

Actually risemix it's not as clear as that. If my choice was buggy big game and perfect, bug free small game I would play both. Sure I'd complain about all the bugs but if all I had to play for the rest of my life was meteos or tetris or pong or something tiny like that, well I doubt I would be a gamer for long.

There are plenty of large-scale games that are not buggy or poorly-made, though.

Yes, and those games don't get scathing reviews and become forgotten in a week. Now could we stop acting like nostalgic emos please?

I see.

Well, it seems to me the gaming COMMUNITY would agree with you.

But more casual gamers, who aren't really fans they just enjoy it, might not.

I don't know, I don't get the "flawed and bloodthirsty but still noble hero" vibe, nor a "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD" one.

Actually, I can see him running a Thousand Sons army and oh my god I'm a rampaging nerdy fanboy.

*another slight tangent to be had: what chapter does YZ secretly collect? Ultramarines seem a bit too nice and strict for him. Space Wolves? Or is he a Chaos devotee?

Clearly he's one of the DE players who feels shafted by GW policy.
