He's right, you know, that is the plot for every Pixar film that's been made by Pixar.

Because they're so trendy right now people seem to loose sight of the fact these films are for children. I mean honestly what you're doing is basically like criticising the plot of an episode of rugrats for being simple and repetitive. If you don't want simple and repetitive don't go see movies made for eight year olds guys.

So this baby, while still inside its mother, murdered his twin brother and STOLE HIS PENIS.

That is one badass baby.

Sorry, I forgot that 8 year olds can only understand one theme.

(On that note, is there a single creative bone in Pixar? I swear on top of remaking the same movie over and over again, when was the last time they came up with a plot by themselves? They didnt' even try to hide the Watchmen/Fantastic Four influences in the Incredibles and the most memorable action scene? Nicked from Star Wars.)

Same difference, liking him when he was underground was, maybe not cool, but atleast not worth of being dipped in acid for.

I cannot watch the pulp CG movies of the Pixar ilk. I dunno what it is. Excessive (poorly executed like almost always) CG in live action films, the movement of characters animated in this vein, and the Uncanny Valley make it highly unenjoyable for me to watch. There have only been a few I've managed to like (Beowulf was neat). Jurassic Park, meanwhile was executed well enough for me to love.

On the note of story, yeah, this could be applied to all animated Disney films of the past 30 years as well. It makes me wonder how grown adults can still enjoy the same basic story every summer, over and over.

Just goes to show that people can repackage anything and claim it is new. And then make tons o' bucks off it.

It's like those god-awful sports games that come out with new rosters every year for $60.

Enjoy your Madden, suckers! biggrin.gif

This is a very sad statement concerning our culture, but that's the culture industry for you. Churn out the cheapest, most recycled stuff that you can that people will still gobble up like zombies until you dominate the market and control it. Disney really is the enemy of the intellectual. But I will say that Pixar can animate the fuck out of things.

Reiner: I've noticed that the Uncanny Valley doesn't really affect me. I'll be pondering that, now.

Tis very true, by and large Disney et cetera do push out the boat on animation techniques, but don't do very much in the way of writing new scripts.

Stupid thing is, I could have lived happily without him pointing it out for my slow brain.

Really, it is amazing to see Mr. Y's intellect analyze and tear through things to articulate the truth behind them for everyone to see, but now I'll never be able to watch one of those movies again without sneering at their repetetiveness. sad.gif

And come to think about it, it's not just Pixar, DreamWorks Animation is just as bad... err... let's see... they did Antz... Shrek, Flushed Away... yup, most of their stuff that comes to mind fits into that pattern as well.

Great. Now life really does feel like Hinduism, everything's a rerun. sad.gif
