How scientists are bringing dinosaurs back to life with the help of the humble chicken

Deep inside the dusty university store room, three scientists struggle to lift a huge fossilised bone.

It is from the leg of a dinosaur.

For many years, this chunky specimen has languished cryptically on a shelf.

Interesting but useless — a forgotten relic of a lost age.

Now, with hammer and chisel poised, the academics from Montana State University in America gather round.

They are about to shatter this rare vestige of the past.

Why would they do such a thing?

The answer is that they believe that this single fragment of a beast which stalked the earth untold millions of years ago could hold the key which will unlock the secrets of the dinosaurs.

Give it 10 years. Then I'll be able to get Charlie, my pet velociraptor. He will eat your face off.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

To be fair, they have been talking about doing this for about 10 years.

Just more definitive proof that Darwin was right. It amazes me how these creationist fruitcakes can continue their charade in the face of all this overwhelming evidence. Honestly these people would believe that grass is blue and the sky is green if the bible said so. rolleyes.gif

Still what I like best is the bit at the bottom, "we've established we can do it but whether its a good idea is another matter". That truly is what it means to be human.

So this baby, while still inside its mother, murdered his twin brother and STOLE HIS PENIS.

That is one badass baby.

I woke up with this song in my head this morning. It's a great way to start the day.

I saw some of this stuff on television the otehr night. It was quite the accidental discovery and also very cool. Not only does it call into question how we think of genetics and evolution but also how fossilization works.

It's pretty wild stuff.

Anyway on the creationist end of things, it's all political. Even the Jesuits dismiss it as rubbish. I'll trust a Jesuit over any evangelist.

Has Hollywood taught us nothing?
"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."
-Jimmy McTavern, 1938.

Haha. ^

That sounds like a totally fucking retarded idea... even if it's gonna take ages.

I must reserve tickets early as they will likely be expensive.
