They didnt' even try to hide the Watchmen/Fantastic Four influences in the Incredibles and the most memorable action scene? Nicked from Star Wars.

Um...wasn't that the point?

Oh, if we are talking about the importance of plot, remember the plot for Eragon is exactly the same as for Star Wars.

And while we're on the topic of this nonsense, I'm pretty sure I remember Yahtzee saying he liked Death Note, the first half when the main character is still alive.

Yeah I thought it was incredibly stupid when L was killed off and replaced by someone who was basically an exact replica.

Before that though, it was an excellent anime with superb camerawork. A little suspension of disbelief was needed to understand L's thought processes though. He marked Light as Kira a little too quickly and without any real eveidence. And even when he locked up Light and the killings continued he still believed Light was guilty. Granted, Light WAS guilty but I mean...come on.

Heh, Yahtzee is right, of course, but damn I still love Pixar. The artistic quality of the films alone always blows me away, they can always make me laugh, and my heart is always completely snared by the characters. (One exception is A Bug's Life, which was only okay. Also I never got around to watching Cars.)

Another thing to remember is that every idea has already been done, lots and lots of times. Yeah they're using this theme repeatedly, but they're putting a new slant on it every time, and they're so good at it that people (including myself) don't even realize it's the same theme. Maybe it's unoriginal, but it's still quality entertainment, which is all I really care about.

And come to think about it, it's not just Pixar, DreamWorks Animation is just as bad... err... let's see... they did Antz... Shrek, Flushed Away... yup, most of their stuff that comes to mind fits into that pattern as well.

Even if you don't consider Pixar to be particularly amazing, they certainly aren't bad enough to warrant being equated with Dreamworks.

Don't. You won't regret not seeing it.

I guess so... they only jumped into my mind because I used to sort-of work with the department which is responsible for managing their rented serverfarms. And I'm still facing that poster which goes through the stages of Shrek's design and rendering process each day at work.

Thusly it has been established as common knowledge.

Guess what. "L: Change the world" is pretty decent. It's the first contact I had with that deathnote stuff, so, of course, I got attached to L before getting attached to the actual deathnote plot thingy. Makes me one of those who were absolutely traumatized when well, yeah, all that. I watched the previous two movies after the manga/comics, and indeed, they're not particularly glorious. But at least, they follow a storyline a bit less anti-me.

That 3rd movie is of a whole other quality. Other budget, aimed at the silver screen instead of tv, and filmed by the Ringu guy. It's more a spy story than a supernatural thriller (the whole death note thing is ended during the first couple of minutes), but it's a bit how I'd wish the next (and former) james bond to look like. Well, like that with the "evil genius" soundtrack, but that's a whole other story.

There. Some harsh comments around here, but still, death note is among the very rare animes i've found watchable and pretty imaginative. Sure, it's a bit unfair at times, and the author tends to side a lot with the baddies -maybe because they look less directly evil in a culture that supports death penalty?-, but the name+face idea is nice, and allows for a quite original kind of tension.

And I love darryl zero kind of detectives.
