I don't know about shit games, but I'm usually more willing to forgive games that don't push the envelope or conform to what I'd like them to do if what they do instead is still fun. See: PoP' combat. It may not be the highly agile, all-singing all-dancing what-the-fuckery of the previous games, but I still enjoy it because it's a good combat mechanic and it doesn't throw shitloads of enemies at you all the time. In fact most of the game is platforming, if you're quick enough to get to Ariman's soldiers before they finish spawning.
