agh, I've only recently started to study and try to understand the Buddha, i really can't give you any solid answer other than Buddhist philosophy is probably very different than you imagine it.

It really has a lot to do with death, since they regard it as circular/spiral. And thus, even though peaceful (?), it's still quite bloody.

No, buddhists will wish for the torturers death, on any of several basis'.
Several have to do with reincarnation, some have to do with inner peace of the torturer, some have to do with weird buddhists concepts.

For example, if you ever meet buddha walking down the road, what should you do?
Buddhist answer: Kill him so that he can reincarnate somewhere else in the world.

That's not why you kill him! You kill him because you need to attain enlightenment on your own. Not by asking someone else.

The buddhists don't regard death as being a bad thing, so killing someone doesn't get rid of them, nor is it a hurtful thing to do to someone. Generally this means getting along with people instead of hurting or killing them, because they will come back in another life, and it is better that they share peace with you. However, when the balance of a person is sufficiently disturbed, it is considered healthful to purge them. Whether it is beneficial to purge them, or whether purging them involves death all of the time, I don't know yet.

Basically, they started from some very basic morals, and concluded that these morals meant a number of other things, such as agreeing with the common society, because they can use it to achieve enlightenment, and changing it would cause turmoil, which hinders them, (not to mention it would change on it's own, again).

For an example, let's assume the reincarnation and let's assume that the only moral is to make a profit. Immediately one can see that Karma may become a certainty over infinity. That is, in a finite lifetime, everything bad you do causes a probability of a bad thing happening back to you. In infinity, that becomes certain. However, if everyone can eventually be persuaded to be good to each other, which, using our only moral thus far, is to mutually profit, then it becomes only a probability again, even on infinity.
From this we can derive that we should only to participate in mutually profitable interactions with all people and creatures.
Which, generally, means being peaceful & pacifist.

I'm sure the logic can be followed, yes? If not, i can elaborate. Note that karma, in this sense, is not a universal force, but merely a name to all good and bad events that happen to you. (as a result of past deeds, but that, according to buddha, is everything that happens to you, since you are not the first life)

Now for the buddha, the ultimate moral is to achieve enlightenment, so if they can help you achieve enlightenment, and it helps them, they will do that.
Now we wrap back to an earlier part of the post. Helping you achieve enlightenment may involve killing you depending on the particular buddhist sect you belong to. It depends on how they think enlightenment can be reached, and if they can further their own enlightenment by killing you.
Some buddha believe that this is never true, while others conclude that it must be, because, (but this is only a reason for some of them), they kill to eat. Killing plants, animals, or people is equivalent to a buddhist.

That's wrong. If Buddha was to walk the earth, then he would not have achieved enlightenment. And you would help both of you achieve enlightenment by killing him.

It's a simple confusion arising from a mis-translation of texts and the people who originally spread buddhism into western culture.
