The thing I've noticed with Starbucks is that I do actually really like the taste of some of their drinks, namely the ones with lots of caramel and sugar and what not.

so you say you've stumbled on to some weird coincidence that you find you like the taste of the ones with increadibly sweet ingredients...

hmmm... that is unusual.

I wonder what it could be?

Oh please read my last comment. JUDGE THEM BY THEIR STRAIGHT COFFEE'S IT"S SHIT!

There beans are crap. You are drinking chemical sludge. They are over charging you by a factor of 3! (that is not a bad estimate either).

Starfucks sells the image. cranium?

"come here, drink our coffee's in a hip and groovy enviroment. Buy our slick and stealth looking mugs, chew our gum that comes in a tin (extra hip), drink a half frap decafe with a twist of hazel creme"

We buy our beans from scum sucking pigs who hire kids to pick them.

Well, I live in the Pacific NW, and we are coffee fiends. The only reason I go to this particular Starbucks is that it is approx. 2 min from my apartment.

Fortunately, there is a large array of local establishments that I will happily visit from now on. Except I will have to drive farther, damn it!

Hey, does anyone remember in Best in Show, when Parker Posey and that guy are talking about how they met in Starbucks...Starbucks across the street from each other?
Come to think of it, I'd better stop consuming starfucks or I'll end up just like them. huh.gif Ordering from catalogs because its easier.

Now I'm rambling.

See, Jon's got the right idea. Rather than drinking bean-juice, go with milk. Or squashed juice beverages. Can't go wrong with pulverising an orange and filtering the result into a glass...

The problem is, a lot of local establishments overcharge too. I know all the coffee places in Amherst are pretty damn expensive. At least, when you go to starbucks, you can be sure that you are getting something pretty standard, where as the other places are wild cards. Again, I've never had their regular coffee; I'll take your word on it that it tastes aweful. But as a guy who goes for whip cream, and caramel, and junk like that, starbucks isnt much different from any other coffee place.

Yeah, Starbucks' crazy drinks are indeed good. I find their regular coffee to just be a little too strong for me. That's what "gourmet" coffee is like, I guess. I prefer watered down, scumbag coffee myself.

Gourmet coffee is made with expensive beans. Starbucks is made with the beans that Nabob won't use. Have I basically grasped your point, Jordan?

Yes, Starbucks buys their beans from anyone, anywhere.

Yes, and I believe it was your anecdote that that was based on actual Vancouver?

one of my fave films. and in that scene Parker almost breaks character, I believe ("you're soo good!-snicker")

2 other great franchises have decent coffee.
(I must warn you, it's not served with flavored goop.)
they would be White Castle and Krispy-Kreme.
(But they both *serve* flavored goop.)

And when it's hot and fresh, mmmmmm. sorry, I meant: "aarrgggghhhh (homer-like")

Actually dairy prices are on the rise. Coffee prices are rising too to keep up with dairy prices. Sucks to be the guy who drinks black coffee.
