Why do people hate this record so much? I don't know any Tool fans that like it much, and it is a relatively solid album. I mean, Parabol/Parabola is such an amazing song, and the drumming on that is some of the best I've ever heard from Dan Carey.

I'd disagree on "best work", which I would award to Undertow, but it's definitely Carey's.

If you'd read the first post, that would have been relatively apparent, Jordan.

Lateralus is a case study in textures over bombastic... metal cliches? i don't know. to me it rocked the house. I listen to it rarely, but when i do i feel rewarded. I haven't heard good or bad from fans one way or another, so this is based soley on my own bias.

Undertow is great, but it gets all... non-musical near the end. everything except their first EP is exceptional.

Jeez, I wish I went to school with YOU guys instead of the people I do...I had to sit and listen to "Dude why are you listening to Lateralus?" every time I had the CD on me. Frustration. I only know one guy from my (former) program that likes it as much as I do.

And SCG, I thought Tool was over...I could have sworn I heard it somewhere.

From what I have heard while APC was on tour the rest of TOOL was putting together some tapes and send em to Maynard for him to listen to. I think he recorded some vocals aswell Im not sure. When the APC tour is over Im not sure if it is right now or not Maynards supposed to rejoin the rest of TOOL and work on the new disc. Theyve got a live DVD supposedly due out this summer too.
