I had never heard much about this film, or David Lynch for that matter.
But while watching this, I was totally captivated and engulfed in the ambience
and tone that this film offered. It was truely like nothing I had seen before.
But I will readily admit, this is not for everybody. The dialogue is often stilted, and
the pacing seems purposely odd. These are all David Lynch staples.
After enjoying this film so much, I decided to go back and watch some of his other movies...and hated them. To me, this is where Lynch finally found his niche.
anyone else seen this?

I've seen Blue velvet and... i think that's it. Obviously i'm going to see Eraserhead very soon.
Anyway, usually when i watch a movie that other people found confusing or confounding, i'm usually, at best, less confused than they are... and i never proclaim my 'confusion'; i think about it after the credits roll to try and interpret what (if anything) the filmmaker(s) were 'going for'. But in this ONE case... i was just plain confused.
But i did read up on it and stuff but still... wacky.
EDIT: i liked it

well, if you're ever in the mood for a cool head trip, give this one a try.
You just might love it. I still dont completely understand it, nor do I want to.
I think people who try to dig too deep into this movie destroy what it's going after.
Just soak it in and enjoy it-or completely hate it. One of the two.

I'd start explaining it , and be a real smartass, but I might as well admit it took a while to sink in what happens in this film. David Lynch aims for the arthouse goatee-scratcher of all time (a title already claimed by ANEE DERNIERE A MARIENBAD), and he aims high, having already made the relatively simplistic body-swap comedy LOST HIGHWAY.
Which I recommend to everyone here.

I saw the movie twice. It certainly is not the sort of film you get first time around. Even then I'm not sure you get it. Maybe rather get your own impressions of what you think it means.
I also read that the film was originally set to be a one hour pilot for a series (much as Twin Peaks) but ti was decided that it was not going to be picked up. As such Lynch altered it and continued the filming into a feature length film.
