I tell you what's fucking terrifying: One of the early missions in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. You're sent to a... it's either a mansion or a hotel to free a lost spirit or somesuch (What a fucking great memory I have), and a whole heap of mad shit happens to you. The voices in your head are particularly scary if you're wearing headphones.

Also: Clocktower 3, before you work out how easy it is to escape, then it just gets boring. Shityourpants scary to begin with though.

As for overall best: I don't know if it really counts, but I thought RE4 was awesome, and the House of the Dead games deserve an honourable mention for being such fun.

System Shock 2.

All alone on a spaceship that's been taken over by horrible genetic mutants who run towards you with a lead pipe raised over their head yelling "KILL ME!" Once you think you've got them figured out (and you never quite do, because they respawn randomly and sometimes find you before you find them), you run into Cybernetic Midwives, women who were horribly mutilated and given implants and machine parts to tend to the young mutants while cooing "Babies need meat!" The ship's computer frequently talk to you in a creepy voice, requesting that you stop trying to survive and just join "The Many". While wandering the ship, you find blood and bodies everywhere, some are people who decided to hang themselves instead of the other fate that was in store for them. Even when you accomplish your initial goal, it turns out you were just a pawn for the AI Shodan who created the monsters in the first place.

The game creeps me out just thinking about it.

Blood, ridiculously random melee weapons, dark corners, gripping storyline, gibs, perks, traits, skills, more blood, deep characters, guts, twisted creatures, blood, wide variety of weapons, modifiable weapons, survival camp where you can buy, sell ammo/weapons/bitches, not some gay storyline where scientists created a virus and it leaked and the whole world died, a 'Fallout' kind of gameplay. This would be too much to create for you guys eh?

O well, i just have to wait for Silent hill V and fallout 3. I don't know what it is about the fallout series but I just can't get enough of the games.
