Real guitar > Guitar Hero
I would rather play a real guitar. Whenever I see someone playing guitar hero, I say to myself 'Man, thats pathetic'.

Hardcore gaming = religious extremism
Same shit, different assholes

Whilst you are free to have your own opinion about GH, you need to bear in mind that

a) there are people who no matter how hard they practice will never really be good at music, like myself. My hands are too small to be effective at fretting large ranges quickly (oddly enough, I play a lot of prog rock on my bass...) and my wrists cramp up easily, despite years of constant playing.

b) The vast majority of people are sane enough to realise that guitar hero != real guitar

c) It's just a bit of fun. That's like saying "Real racing > gran turismo. Whenever I see someone playing gran turismo, I say to myself 'Man, thats pathetic'." Sure, you can take your car down to a track for a track day and have a great laugh, but it doesn't stop the game being fun.

Also, your "hardcore gaming = religious extremism"... wow, where do I start on how wrong you are there?

Game Over, have you ever played fps wargames like Call of Duty? Yeah? Well, that's really pathetic, why don't you enlist for real and kick some sand nigger ass IRL?

Like a hammer dropping in a lake, I'm here to state the following: I though the video was an attempt by a guy to parody Yahtzee. Therefore, his opinions are just that, parodies and unnecessary to take seriously. This may not be the case, but the thought helps me sleep at night. Now go on about your business.

Indeed.

To reiterate:

The PP review was not an expression of opinion in a borrowed style; it was a spoof of Yahtzee's opinions in a parodied form. It was not intended for serious dissection and debate, merely to appeal to the humour of the audience.

What? Satire? Of a semi-famous personality? On the internet? NEVER.

So uh... are you the kind of people who freak out every time Weird Al parodies a song? 'cause that would definitely explain a lot about your person.

Edit: To clarify, this is at the people who seem to be really serious about this whole thing.

That would be awesome if he was an amp, and his scales would go to 5 and then there was 11, and his anger was his overdrive. That would totally kick the shit out of Spinal Tap.

Haha, my evil plan to derail this topic further is motion, haha! * insert more evil laughter *

I finished it in 4 hours. and FYI, I am a "sand nigger". and why would be so stupid and weak minded to repeat Tech Virginia again?

IT LOOKS SO REALISTIC. I'M GONNA TRY THAT IN REAL LIFE.

That is not what goes in my train of thoughts.

Lets face it; video games are still not a strong form of media. Not even as strong as cartoons. They're still building up. Good thing is that they're manipulative and can be a creative a way to make somethin' up. They still might look pathetic to some average people like me watching you play with plastic and watching the screen go boom.

Wow, I was away for a day and suddenly you expect my anger level to go [over 9000]? I'm actually laughing right now. "Internet Intelligence"? "Would you kill sand niggers"? "You're pathetic."

I should join Myg0t soon.

Racial slurs, personal attacks, flaming and 4chan memes. What a lovely forum to visit.

Meanwhile, the PP parody was a bit more clever than the guys directly imitating yahtzee, although I'm not a huge PP fan. It looked put together somewhat well.

Are you seriously comparing your dick to a knob on an amp?

'Cos that's what I'm hearing.

...and I don't believe it's his. Your argument that Guitar Hero is 'pathetic' because people could just play a real guitar, is flawed at best. Using the same logic, people can go outside and stab, murder, maim, kill etc...so why bother having video games about it? It's 'pathetic' obviously. Guitar Hero does what it does well. It's selling point with the first iteration was 'Throw away your air guitar.' which sums up the game entirely really. It gives the average Joe who has no real hope of learning to play a real instrument - a chance to pretend they can, for fun. Sure, the controllers can be said to be gimmicky, but it's sold really, really well. Much as a lot of people have negative views on it, I doubt Harmonix/Red Octane really care, considering the amount of people buying their stuff.

...they aren't a strong form of media? Hm. Care to explain why the industry now earns more than Hollywood per year? Games are a strong form of media. Almost every form of media that we now take for granted; books, comics, movies, television has been challenged at some point or another as being 'pathetic' and a poor use of people's freedom of speech. The knee-jerk reaction, to blame video games for our current society's ills, saying that the bubble will burst and they'll cease to be popular, is the exact same thing that's been done time, and time again.

By all means, if you actually want to put forward a valid argument, go ahead. However if you're going to start another meme littered post like the last one, I give up.
