Thought I would share a band here from the KC scene. I met the drummer through a mutual friend and the music clicked with me instantly. I purchased their album, Mean Machine, at their release show and had a blast.

I'm not listening to this style very often, and I'm not a musician myself, so I can't bring on any valuable opinion or criticism, but I can say that I really like their stuff so far, sort of what I expect to hear when I'm going to one of those wood-style bars around here. Granted, my expectations were never fulfilled so far, maybe I'll give them a hint next time.
